If you have a high quality acoustic or vintage guitar, you owe it to yourself to hear the difference a TUSQ saddle will make. Compared to standard materials, you'll hear crystal clear bell-like high end, big open lows, and a noticeable increase in overall sustain.

TUSQ saddles are designed to transfer the right frequencies more efficiently from the string to the guitar body, and have been proven to increase a guitar's harmonic sustain. Acoustic guitars come alive with delicate highs and big open lows!

TUSQ is far superior in sound and appearance to synthetics such as Micarta and Corian. The high levels of heat and pressure used in making TUSQ results in its exotic ivory-like appearance.

Join those who know great guitar tone! TUSQ is used by: Martin, Taylor, Larrivee, Gibson Acoustic Guitars, Tacoma Guitars, Ovation, Rick Turner, Garrison Guitars, Breedlove, Manuel Rodriguez, Rainsong, Carvin, Landola and many, many more.

TUSQ has quickly become an important tone performance tool for many guitar manufacturers, luthiers and playing professionals around the world.

Bone and ivory have hard and soft spots (grain), throughout each piece, hampering consistent transfer of vibrations to the guitar top.

TUSQ saddles have rich tone and sustain, without the inconsistency found in ivory, bone and other natural materials.

The published dimensions are correct. Measured first, then ordered, was a perfect match on thickness and width. Like any replacement of a saddle or nut, requires sanding to get the action perfect. I sanded the bottom, checking against the original, and the resulting action @ 12th fret frequently, until the lowest was about 6/64". Then I used my nut files to cut slots to get the strings down to 4/64" - 5/64". It's a long process, but you need patience to get it perfect.

The saddle I replaced was most likely TUSQ, based on the "drop test." So, probably not much improvement on tone, but the original was a 1999 Tacoma DR20, and discolored, so the new one is a nice swap.

Tried the Tusq bridge pins and was impressed by the subtle sound improvement to my Fender acoustic. Got this saddle expecting the same, but was largely disappointed. It did seem to add some bell-like trebles, but since my guitar?s already pretty bright, it just made it sound ?clangy.? What really irked me was that it seemed to dampen my mids, not much difference to the lows. Doesn?t add much to your tone, if anything, seems to detract. I suppose if your guitar has dead highs, then this might help, otherwise I wouldn?t recommend.

Comments about Graph Tech TUSQ Acoustic Guitar Saddle - Taylor Compensated 1/8":

Used this to replace the saddle on my Yamaha FG735 and it change the tone in a very nice way. Volume is about the same to me, but tone is overall richer and fuller, specially on the 1st and 2nd strings, they now sound thicker. Heard many speculations on the web anout tusq latetly, now I am a believer. Give it a try, it is so inexpensive and easy to install, if you sont like it just install your old saddle back. Hope this helps.

Comments about Graph Tech TUSQ Acoustic Guitar Saddle - Taylor Compensated 1/8":

I just wanted to experiment with the tone of my guitar. A Washburn wd10sce. This saddle along with a new tusq nut and tusq bridge pins did just that, changed the tone. I wouldn't say it is better or worse, just a little different than it originally was. I would say it made the guitar a bit louder and with a bit more ring to chords. I did have to sand a millimeter or two off of the saddle to get the proper action, but it was no problem. Take it to your guitar shop if you don't feel comfortable doing it on your own. Decent product but don't expect a night and day difference in sound.

I am using this on a Yamaha LJ6. Everything you've heard about Tusq saddles you can actually hear when you play. Breadth, depth and more harmonically rich. Strings 1-3 in particular. It's an amazing way to make every guitar better for very little--with one more aesthetic benefit that never seems to get mentioned: your guitar remains free of bone, which, if you recall, is an animal part.

This TUSQ saddle made a huge improvement in the tone
and general sound of my Takamine GS430S acoustic.
It fit perfectly in the guitar saddle slot and was
                          money well spent.

Big improvement over cheap plastic, sometimes an improvement over bone, depending on the guitar and your ear. Seems to work best with higher velocity woods such as koa, maple, etc.
