The Groove Tubes GT-12AT7 preamp tube is manufactured to the highest quality JAN spec. NOS, made in Russia for extremely long life. Used widely in most U.S.-made amps and, in particular, Fender amps. Fender amps with reverb use 2 - 12AT7s -- one for the reverb drive stage, and one as a phase inverter to drive the push/pull output stage. The makeup of the 12AT7 is very similar to the 12AX7 and it can be substituted for a 12AX7 in a pinch. Some players prefer the 12AT7 in the driver stage of a Marshall for a cleaner, brighter tone. (The driver or phase inverter is the 12AX7 located nearest the power tubes.) The 12AT7 is rarely used in a tone-generating stage, but rather in function stages, so the Groove Tubes GT-12AT7 is selected for durability.

I am completely satisfied with these replacement tubes for my Hot Rod Deluxe. The factory 12AX7 tubes were great, just too loud. The sound quality is just as good if not the same.

Used to replace a 12AX7 pre amp on Vox AC4TV for more headroom. Worked great. After an hour of playing, it started to rattle fiercely. Tapping on tube in live circuit with the eraser of a pencil produced extreme microphonics, worse ever heard. Put Electro Harmonics 12AX7 back in, problem solved. Anyone know a good quality 12AT7?

My amp sounds better than ever, I put Ruby 6L6's in the power section, Tung-sol 12AX7's for the drive tubes and the Groove tube 12AT7 for my power inverter. It brought my amp back to life! (mostly switching the ECC38 to 12AX7 tubes) But they all add up to tone!
Groove tubes 12AT7 pre-amp tube, It's sturdy. I chose it because it is supposed to be a very solid, durable tube for the phase-inverter. Time will tell.
No complaints. Gimme a year, and I'll ley you know how it holds up.
MF always seems to shine through, when it comes to bang for the buck.

I rate this Tube all the way because it delivers excellent tone. I have installed it in my MXL 960 Condensor, and Art-2 PreAmp, but decided to leave it in the 960 because my Mic is set up for a 12AT7 Tube. It never hurts to experiment!
This a quiet operating Tube, giving a smooth tone.

I put this in the phase inverter section like the description mentioned. WOW, what a difference. I have a Peavey JSX that was very noisy. I couldn't believe the difference. There was practically no noise coming from the amp. I had to double check the standby switch to make sure it was on. It didn't really drop the gain of the amp too much. It did make it sound a whole lot better. I have a tigther bass tone, everything over all sounds better. This is the tube that I will always use in front of the power tubes for now on.

I put one of these in a tube Equalizer that I have to replace the import tube it came with and it made a very noticable difference. Much stronger lows and mids. Nice round sound.
