I bought a set of 5 to upgrade my stock Carvin MTS 3200 head. I've had this head for six years and it has never really satisfied me. When you look at it you see USA quality but I could never get the sound I wanted. The hi-gain channel was just was not right for me. I had it packed away for the last 3 years and a few weeks ago I decided to give it another try thinking it was a good candidate for Ebay. I spent hours trying everything...I got good but nothing satisfying.The clean on this was always great...it was the hi gain side that stunk. I changed the stock pre-amp tubes to this and the results were amazing. The distortion and reverb had a huge improvement. In just seconds I was able to get the sound i wanted. The transformation was stunning to say the least. Next up, the power tubes....but for now my Carvin MTS3200 is smokin hot.

I bought one because they are described as high gain and I thought it would sound good when I wanted extra distortion but it sounds like a cheap wore out tube. I'm gonna stay away from Groove Tubes as there are much better tubes on the market. Try a Tungsol, JJ, or a Electro Harmonic, they sound much better.

Replaced all tubes in my VOX ac30C2. Used these 3 for my pre amp section since my originals were made in china. I like the sound of the stock VOX so no I didn't want any other origin country other than china.if VOX likes china tubes so do I.

I love electric blues,and, play the blues/blues rock,and SRV/ABERT KING/BERNARD ALLISON/JIMI HENDRIX/ tones are what i love to play.I wish i know about,and,tried the GT-12AX7-C long time ago.
Recently,i needed 4 new preamp tubes for my Weber vintage amp(similar to fender bassman). I ordered 8 GT-12AX7-C,and received them.And,when I replaced the old preamp tubes with the 4 new GT-12AX7-C/ to my surprise,i ended up with SRV/ALBERT KING/BERNARD ALLISON/JIMI HENDRIX/tones.Wow!...Now,i am going to replace all the preamp tubes of my Rivera Amps with these groove preamp tubes (GT-12AX7-C)From now on these GT-12AX7-C will be my favorites for the rest of my lifetime.
Best of the Best warm and fat preamp tubes.

Given that I just bought a bunch of them and are happy...SO FAR...I'll probably buy more of them when it comes time to get more.
These are Shuguang tubes, bought in bulk by Groove Tubes, tested, labeled with Groove Tubes logos and so on, and sold.
There's nothing really special about them compared to other tubes, other than GT tests them.
7 for this one, because I've purchased around 20 of these, and had 1 that was bad, so a couple stars off for that, and, the ones that are good are *borderline* microphonic...but they have a VERY stong output...which (simply put) higher-output = more prone to microphonics. These are borderline - meaning if you crank up the gain, and point your guitar just right at it, it will give the microphonic feedback squeal, but if you tap them, they don't ring or pop or anything like that - so, physically they are spot on, just have a very high level of output...
But, in real-world application, that won't be an issue...so I enjoy their stronger output,
GT charges quite a lot for their tubes compared to other tube vendors, but with the idea that they give the buyer value by testing them so well and weeding out the bad ones.I went through MF to get these instead of my normal channels because I didn't feel like waiting for shipping and, as I found out, MF's return policy on bad tubes is great - they took back the bad one and sent me a new one.

Get this if you like to have variety in the sounds you get out of your amp. I always play around with different tubes in different slots. That's the real benefit of a tube amp. You can always dramatically change the way it sounds with a quick tube change.
Very unique sound. It has very good clarity and is my favorite in the V1 position for cleans. I use it in the Phase Inverter position along with JJ's in V1 & V2 for awesome distortion & dynamics. It's just a great tube.
Seems very reliable.

My experience with tube is that it stinks. Typical of any other Chinese preamp tube i've ever heard. Groove tube is an importer and Re-seller. They grade and select and rebrand. Many of the tubes they Brand are outstanding tubes. The Groove Tube 6L6GE is a fabulous tubes and the only New production, American made power pentode in existence (made by groove tube in California).This 12ax7 c tube is OEM in many many new amps.It is made by shaugang and came stock in my Orange amps (OR30 and Tiny Terror). Do yourself a favor and become educated about tubes: "NOS" New production. What they're called and where they are made.

I put this in V-1 of my HiWatt. I noticed it right away.I run Tung-Sol in V-2 and V-3.It's a rich & smooth distortion when you overdrive it. Even the cleanest settings are warmer with "tube vibe" between notes. No one would regret putting this in their tube collection. Have fun!

I have put these in a few different amps over the last 5-10 years and have really had none of the problems anyone is talking about. They have always added to the sound of the amps I have used them in. They are high in price and there may be other tubes as good or better for less but these are easy to get and I will keep on truckin with these tubes until I have a problem.

Do not believe the warranty against microphonics or rattling -- you are better off to buy the competing tubes and test them yourself. Groove tubes' testing procedures must be nonexistent. I bought four these things and only one of them was better than a similar tube costing 1/2 the price. Combo amps shake rattle and roll these really bad -- unless you like that extra rattling noise you are best to avoid GT tubes !
