OVERVIEW

Simple, intuitive and genius gig bag design.

Grab your guitar and go with the amazing new GigBlade, quite possibly the most revolutionary gig bag ever designed. Its unique side-carry approach offers the quickest, most practical and user-friendly way to carry your guitar or bass. Staying closer to the ground, it keeps a low center of gravity so it feels more stable and natural. The top never sticks out above your head so you won't have to duck under doorways, and having the bag against your side means it won't bounce on your legs, staying clear out of the way while you walk. Offers both quick load and full clamshell access for ultimate versatility.

Comments about Gruv Gear GigBlade for Electric Guitar:

This is a good gig bag and worth a look see. As with all thing, it has its pluses and minuses. Let me start with the negatives. The case is not waterproof. You can buy a waterproof cover for it at an additional cost. There are other cases in this price range that are waterproof.

Inside the case there is a neck cradle, but there is no velcro strap to secure the neck into that cradle. Again, the other high end gig bags do have this feature.

I am also not that thrilled with the storage pockets. The big square one up by the headstock is great. There is one large compartment with a single zipper on the front of the case. When you unzip this pocket, it does not flap open. You have to stick your hand in to fish around for your stuff. The pocket is kind of tight and it was hard for me to get my cables into it. With some other designs, you unzip and pull back a flap for easy access. Some bags even have a velcro loop in the storage pockets to secure cables. Other gig bags have lots of pockets, and this one does not.

The Youtube videos for this product make a big deal about how easy it is to carry this bag as it has a lower center of gravity and slings over one shoulder. They claim you don't bang the headstock going through doorways the way you would with a traditional gig bag. I think this is more hype than reality. If you carry this bag over one shoulder (much the way women carry a pocketbook) all the weight of the instrument is on one shoulder. With a back pack design, the weight is on both shoulders. Instead of worrying about hitting the instrument on the top of doorways, you have to worry about banging it on the side of doorways.

There is a lot of good news about this product as well. First of all, it looks really cool and I like that. The case seems to be well made and I think it will stand up. I have the charcoal version with orange trim and it looks great. The padding inside the case is really thick and I feel my instrument would be well protected even if it were dropped. There are two adjustable thick cushions at the bottom of the case to protect the area near the bottom strap pin should the bag be accidentally dropped. To remove and place the instrument, the gig bag can be placed on the floor and the case is unzipped clam shell style. If the space you are in is tight, there is another way to get your guitar in and out. The gig bag can be stood up vertically, unzipped about three quarters of the way, and the instrument can be pulled out from the top. This is convenient in tight quarters. I hope this review was helpful.
