Everything works fine with this music stand except that one of the two center column clamps won't hold tight enough on the extension rod to keep it from slipping downward. We've had to resort to masking tape to hold it in place, which makes it non-folding anymore. It also didn't come with a carrying case. For the money, get a cheaper stand with only one column lock and add a carrying case.
Clamps don't tighten enough to stop column slippage.
What good is a folding stand that won't stay extended without tape?
Good value for the money. I am a beginner and did not want to spend a lot of money. Some of the higher priced music stands that I saw at the local music store cost more and were not as sturdy. This stand is sturdy!Especially like the music clips to hold your music in place.
I would recommend this stand to anyone who plays an instrument. It is easy to set up at home or take with you when you play somewhere.
We purchased this KB600N Hamilton Folding Music Stand for our granddaughter for Christmas but of course I had to put it together to see if it would work for her. She is playing a sax in school. It is going to work well for her and is a very quality stand. We also purchased the carry bag to go with it.
As far as portability goes, this has to be the best choice. I have looked at the others and they don't break down as simply, and they are not as sturdy. Also, as a bass player, this is the one that extends the highest, if you are standing up. Sturdiness can be improved though.Gig bag approved.
If all you want is something to hold a several sheets of paper it's fine. I wouldn't try to put a thick music book or binder on it. Nor do I recommend using it outdoors. It's a very lightweight product for very lightweight use.
