Comments about Hennessey Metallic Strap Locks:
The quick connect/disconnect is great. The colors are great, but they don't offer gold anymore. They fit just about any thickness of strap. Like any product you would rely upon for the safety of a cherished instrument, use caution and common sense, glue on the threads keeps them from coming apart in the middle of a gig or a practice.
Very solid construction, very reliable when used with common sense.
I have used other strap locks before from all the other vendors, and frankly this one is the best, I have over 40 thousand dollars worth of guitars riding on these and I wouldn't use anything else.
As far as the screws coming loose, I put a dab of white glue on the threads, screw them in as tight as they'll go and I never have an issue with them coming loose. Other strap locks won't work with thick guitar straps, I use really thick leather straps and these Hennesey's are the only ones that will fit.
I love the quick connect/disconnect and they stay secure as long as you use caution. Anyone that would blindly trust any piece of hardware to safeguard an expensive or vintage instrument is just asking for something bad to happen, if you take precautions like I do and even though I glue the threads I always check them for tightness every time I play. I don't like the idea of my early 50's Gretsch or my ZGibson Scorpions Explorer or any of the other expensive guitars in my collection falling on the floor any more than someone else would relish the idea of their Squire hitting the floor.
Comments about Hennessey Metallic Strap Locks:
I bought these from a guitar store where I live and they quite frankly...suck. The actual lock on the strap peg is VERY VERY noisy, then the pickups send that sound through the amp. The strap lock itself doesn't even stay screwed on for more than a couple of minutes of sitting still and playing. The top strap lock fell off causing the headstock of my most expensive guitar to crack and chip. Buy something else. Don't waste your money on these.
Comments about Hennessey Metallic Strap Locks:
Now, I will say this, I have never attempted to swing my bass all around the place like a rock star. I would say doing that would truly put these to the extreme test! I would highly recommend that if you're going to try that, make sure you test this theory out with a cheapy or something you don't mind breaking in half if it were to fall. Again, I can't stress this enough, NOT checking the tightness periodically on your straps, jacks, knobs or anything else on your instrument is a really bad idea. Regular checks and maintenance go a long way to preserving you investment!!!
These strap locks are amazingly easy to use! On my '96 Epiphone Les Paul bass, I used the included screws and tightened them down just fine. Attatching the other half is just as easy. Make sure you tighten the strap portion down as tight as possible. These may try and work loose overtime. Checking weekly for tightness is a good idea.
There is no question about the quality! These are made of really durable metal, and feel weighty in your hands. No blemishes or problems here!
Two strap locks that secure your investment for this price? You have a deal!!
Comments about Hennessey Metallic Strap Locks:
These simply broke during plain use. Straplocks were fine afterward. Only damaged the guitar because AFTER LOCKING they came undone.
I had a Gibson Les Paul Special with these type of strap locks on. I've been extremely free with guitars when using all types of strap locks before, and these were supposed to be heavy duty. So while freely using I swing my guitar (which I've done with strap locks of different sorts COUNTLESS TIMES) the front strap lock just decided to slip off causing my Les Paul to nail the floor and snap.
Comments about Hennessey Metallic Strap Locks:
If the original screws are bigger than the ones provided, use the originals by just using a bit of sand paper, a flat file, or an emery board on the tapered edge of the head of the screw until it fits inside the button. It only takes a couple seconds. Use a leather garden glove to hold the screw by the thread to protect your fingers. Be sure to put lock-tite on all the threads, otherwise they will loosen up. All brands of strap locks I have used get loose without gluing them. These locks add a little extra weight to my axe, but they give a good solid secure feel when you snap them on. I have them on 2 guitars and they haven't come off yet.
Comments about Hennessey Metallic Strap Locks:
This is my first set of strap locks ever used, and upon getting them I was excited to finally have something to keep my strap locked to the guitar. These strap locks seemed to be good but after about 1-2 months use, the outer screws (the one that goes through the straps) started coming loose. I find that I constantly have to tighten them EVERY time I play, otherwise they will fall off, completely defeating the purpose of the strap locks. I am taking them off and replacing them with a different, hopefully much more reliable, pair.
Comments about Hennessey Metallic Strap Locks:
the purpose of a strap lock is to keep the strap on the guitar better than the standard button, these do not complete this task at all. the screw on top comes unscrewed very easily and the top is barely bigger than the standard button on my schecter
Comments about Hennessey Metallic Strap Locks:
Okay people these are the first ever strap locks I have owned.Three words:I love them!!!The only problem is that after alot of slinging, or even more not slinging, they do come unscrewed. For the money I would say GET THEM.But if you really, really wanna get the best, save up. I will next time. But for now these will do.Peace out everyone.
Comments about Hennessey Metallic Strap Locks:
I put a purple set of these on my wife's bass today.... and they work really well. They were very easy to install, too. I have Dunlop straplocks on my Strat because I like the push button the best. This uses quick connects too, but just pulls away a bit further down the lock.Bottom line... these are solid. Her little bass is not going anywhere :)Also, this was easier to connect to the strap than my Dunlops were. So if you need to switch your locks between different straps a lot, you might want these instead.
