I use this to hold my 6-string electric bass guitar at home, at practice and at gigs. It is a very stable stand and well constructed; it should last a long time.
I was worried the yoke would not be wide enough for the 2" neck of my guitar. My concerns were unfounded, it fits snugly. It might not work with a wider neck bass guitar. The length and weight (11 lbs) of the guitar are also accommodated by the music stand.
It is bulkier and heavier than the typical gtr stand. The yoke sticks out when folded up transport. I suggest you purchase a bag to carry it in for ease of transport and to protect the yoke. It doesn't look like the yoke can be repaired if it is broken off.

At first I thought that these Hercules stands were great. But I've had them for a few years, and found out that the part that holds the stand rigid broke. Also, it was covered with some kind of liquid that, like wet paint, covered my hand--and I had to use Lighter Fuel to remove it! It was a real mess. And even after several washings with soap and water--and cleaning with lighter fuel--my hands are still stick. I can't play guitar right now because I don't want to transfer this sticky stuff to it.
This happened to two of my stands; a third one is iffy. One of them has been a closet for a while; I didn't know that anything was wrong until I took it out tonight and found out that it had broken (by itself--I didn't put it into the closet that way) and, as I've said, the plastic handle was covered with some sticky substance.
Don't buy this product unless you can convince yourself that they have fixed this problem.

At first I thought that these Hercules stands were great. But I've had them for a few years, and found out that the part that holds the stand rigid broke. Hercules is a name that can be trusted to produce a strong, reliable product. You may find less expensive guitar stands, but they do not stand up against this one. It is of excellent quality and a great design. If your guitar is important to you, you will want to have a Hercules stand to hold it for you. I especially like the way the yoke grips the guitar neck.
