if you like to customize your axe and like me play diff tunings everyother song this drop key is for you !
nice matches my grovers !!
I would like the post to be longer but it is not a problem.I have this on my epi les paul studio
and it works well like any tuning key/string they need adjusting (i tend to beat my strings to hell)
I use it for band practice and drop tune several time changing key from e flat to d flat and rarely have to make adjustments no more than anyother string ! hipshot and grover !! works well for me !!
now that i have em gotta set up all my axe's with em!!
Comments about Hipshot GT1 Grover-Style Guitar Xtender:
I've installed these on just about every kind of guitar imaginable. Honestly, IF you don't ever expect to sell the axe you want to use it on - the xtender works best if you rout out some of the wood and inset the xtender. (I did this on a Les Paul studio and the xtender NEVER slipped!) On the thicker headstocks this can really allow a "normal" amount of the post sticking thru the top side.
Short of using the power tools, a small piece of double sided tape between the mounting plate and the headstock really helps (the pilot hole is the saving grace).
If you have to drop to an open "D" often during a set, this is a really great piece of gear!

Now if your a guitarist who is really satisfied with the Tone and feel of one guitar of yours and you really don't want to use another guitar on stage set to a different tuning. This is really a great gadget to install on your guitar. the mechanism is really well built, Concept of its functioning is simple, and its really simple to install to! I recommend it...even though it is some what a pricey gadget, But its going to save you space in the cargo of one guitar!
Comments about Hipshot GT1 Grover-Style Guitar Xtender:
I have had a GT1 on my 1995 Epiphone SG-400 for years now and still Love it. Sure it seems like something almost pointless but it is pretty cool to switch on the fly to Drop d/c. Is it perfect all the time? No, But before a show just flip it around a few times to make sure its adjusted properly and you will be fine. One thing though I did not install it myself I had my local guitar genius (you know the old guy that every city seems to have that kind of smells funny but can rock) Install it so maybe thats why I have had such luck. Magic mojo from Mad Moe......
Comments about Hipshot GT1 Grover-Style Guitar Xtender:
I bought one of these for my Martin. The tuner post was too short and didn't come through the headstock far enough. Called Hipshot and they said to send them the unit and another $20, and they would cut the post off and weld on a longer one. This would also void the warranty, and they could not guarantee it would even work. So I returned the unit and got my money back. What a waste of time and effort.
