Improved grip for reduced slippage
Pitch-paired
Made in USA

I have been playing drums and percussion for 27 years and feel someone may be able to use my input here. I bought a pair of Hornets 7A's and two pairs of their 'dowel rods' called Swarm Sticks last October. I primarily play in small venues that require me to keep the energy up and maintaining good drum tone while holding back on the decibels. There is something about the feel of these sticks that helps minimize wrist fatigue and give a sense of over-all control. They are very comfortable and have a unique balance unlike anything I have used. They are about a half inch shorter than the Vater 7a's that I have used over the last decade and a half but it hasn't been hard getting used to the difference. They really become an extension of your arm.The Swarm sticks are very useful as I use this type of stick weekly and am always on the lookout for new tools to use. No other dowel rod has this comfortable of a grip. I would like to see a version even lighter than what is available soon. They have very cool colors and the rubber rings on the ends can get a decent cymbal swell going with a little aim and practice. The only thing I have had an issue with is that the color on the handles leaves them a bit too slick and they do not absorb any hand moisture like a natural stick. Over-all; Very good idea. Great easy feel. Looking good! Hornets: How about some even lighter Swarms!?

These sticks jumped out at me and i thought hey why not give them a shot, i payed way too much to have them just split right in half in a couple of days. They cramped my hands up and didnt do anything they said that they would.
These sticks in theory are a good idea, however i did not find any sort of balancing and the shape made my hands cramp more than just plain sticks would.
Both sticks split in half down the middle in the same exact way after using them for about 3 hours, and my drums are made to be very loud so i don't even hit very hard.
I wouldn't ever pay this much for sticks again.

Comments about Hornets Drumsticks:

i really love these sticks. i have two pair both 3 years old. i play anything from blues to heavy metal so these sticks have been through a beating, they are a bit on the more expensive side but have never had another pair of sticks last even close to that long

beautiful sticks, but...

Comments about Hornets Drumsticks:

a little too many gimmicks going on. I like the rubber o-rings and the slight flange on the butt. the paint is cool and i dig the colors. unfortunately i can't get comfortable with the hump at the fulcrum, and I don't want to change my grip to deal with one stick cause I play several different styles...brushes, mallets, timbale sticks, etc.

Looks can be deciving...

Comments about Hornets Drumsticks:

In the description it says that these sticks are a "very natural-feeling, ergonomic drumstick that feels and looks like no other sticks on the market." This is true, they do feel very nice and balanced and they come in pretty much any color and style that would fit any drummer's personality... However, the quality is poor, and I'm not talking about wearing down fast and chipping. Within the first day of using these sticks, one of them had split in two. From just under the head of the stick down to about where the dye starts. The next day, no-kidding, the other stick did the same thing... Now I guess I tend to hit a bit hard, and I may have had some sticks from a bad batch, but the price you pay for these things should either be for a better quality stick or come with some kind of warrenty... Other wise I would only use them with a practice pad or an electric drum kit.

Almost Perfect!

Comments about Hornets Drumsticks:

I bought a pair of 5A's and a pair of 7A's, the 7's broke rather quickly but I've always had problems with breaking sticks. The 5's on the other hand are still going strong. As far as feel and playability goes nothing beats them and I will never buy any other sticks ever again. (just stick to the fatter ones)

Best I have ever used!

By Mr. C-qg9IV

Comments about Hornets Drumsticks:

I have been drumming for over 30 years. These are the best sticks I've ever used. The ergonimic design feels super in my hands and gives me a supior grip. I also like the round tips. I've had my current pair for nearly a year (maybe more, I don't recall exactly when I bought them). I agree with another post, once you try these, you'll never go back.

Best Uses

    Comments about Hornets Drumsticks:

These are great if you lose your sticks a lot when playing. I like the 2B, which fits my hand perfectly. I can use the rubber end to get a good sound on the cymbols. Biggest downfall is the tip. The wood, ball-shape leaves dents in my heads and they chip off and wear down. If these were nylon ends, they would be PERFECT.

I bought these as a gift for my son. He likes them, but did say they take some getting used to. He likes the way they look and feel. He hasn't used them for more than practice yet, but he plans to just as soon as he gets a feel for them.
