As I purchase more rack equipment, I'll buy more. Hey, if you don't like them, thats just more for me!
I've read some of the other reviews and disagree! The humfrees do just that, stop the buzzing! I have solid state and tube amps, effects, etc, etc, These little plastic things space my components out correctly, isolate, and stop the buzzing. If you want to use electrical tape or something else, good luck. Why screw around? The humfrees don't cost that much, pass on a soda or two and get the good stuff! I can not believe some of the reviews talking about cost (their cheap), and being a pain to install (come on ya wimps, man up!). Bottom line they work, they look good, they fix the buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Most rack-mount gear is not grounded to the chassis of the device, so separating the chassis from the rack-ears will have no effect on ground-loops. In those rare cases where it does, electrical tape is cheap, readily available and easier to install. The real reason you want these things is because they help protect the delicate edges of your gear from banging the sides. They also help protect against the screws which will scratch and scrape the finish. Of course, plastic washers and more tape will do a good job of that too, but these look more "pro." You be the judge. Do you want to buy cheap little plastic parts at a thousand times their value just to look cool?

Pros

  • Easy to install
  • Improves System Function

Cons

    Best Uses

    • All Rack Equipment

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

Like I said, an inexpensive piece of mind. It wasnt nearly as hard as some people made it out to be to install. I installed them on a power conditioner and a compressor. I use quality cables so why not go that extra little mile to make sure you can have the best quality sound.

    Pros

    • Helps Prevent Hum
    • Prevents Rack Rash

    Cons

    • A Little Hard To Work Wit
    • Difficult Setup

    Best Uses

    • Put On All Gear In Racks

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

These things are great. I've never had a single piece of gear get rack rash, in many years. They are a little trying to install, but once you've got them in place they look good and also help prevent ground-loop hum. I consider these essential to my gear.

    Do they work?

    By Jay Shannon

    from Dallas, TX

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

Yes! They are sometimes a pain to install on bigger systems! However, In my experience I have found that you do not have to ISO every unit in your rack. (although it's preferred) If you take the time 1 by 1 you can usually pinpoint the problem spots and ISO only those units with the same results.

    No other choice really

    By Dogstarr1

    from Atlanta, GA

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

Look, you bought all this rak gear so you could get the best tone possible, right? Now you're going to put it in a rack where it's getting ground loops that ruin the otherwise pristine sound you so carefully crafted? If you want the best sound there really is no other choice and while the price might seem a little steep for little pieces of plastic, I'd like to personally thank Humfrees for making something available that no one else provides,

    Tricky, but not impossible

    By AnEveningSmoke.com

    from Sheboygan, WI

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

Installation is tough, but one suggestion I have (after mounting almost a dozen units) is to cut just a hair off the piece that sits between the rackmount gear and the rack rail. I cut the side with 3 edges, at the corners so it becomes square. Snipping that little bit off means that it wont push against the side of your power amp or rack gear when you're trying to place that hole over the rail threads. This will save you a LOT of time trying to get that rack screw lined up perfectly!

GREAT AND CRAP AT THE SAME TIME

    By METAL /m/ BASS

    from South Windsor, CT

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

Theese do actually work. But they are a real pain to install. Oh well. And If you have a QSE PLX series power amp they dont work with those due to the shape of the amp. Hey they are cheap as hell. What do you want?

    Good stuff...

    By MrGAJ5001

    from Reno, NV

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

These are a MUST own, if you have a Voltage Regulator. Groundloops are one of the VERY most common noises in amateur systems. Physical isolation is necessary. These are easy to install (despite other complaints) and perform very well. I stand by them.
