As I purchase more rack equipment, I'll buy more. Hey, if you don't like them, thats just more for me!
I've read some of the other reviews and disagree! The humfrees do just that, stop the buzzing! I have solid state and tube amps, effects, etc, etc, These little plastic things space my components out correctly, isolate, and stop the buzzing. If you want to use electrical tape or something else, good luck. Why screw around? The humfrees don't cost that much, pass on a soda or two and get the good stuff! I can not believe some of the reviews talking about cost (their cheap), and being a pain to install (come on ya wimps, man up!). Bottom line they work, they look good, they fix the buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

These are a great idea. Yes, they are very tedious to install. especially if you have a bunch of stuff in your rack. The first ones (that'd be the top thing in your rack) are beautiful. Then it's time for row 2 (Different story). Now the room that's taken up from the ones above make the one's below them bunch up and squish out when you tighten your rack screws. It takes time and patience and a flathead screwdriver ( to cram the things back behind the effect when they come squising out when tightened down.), but, it's possible to make them fit o.k. Just takes lots of messaging.

Use your brain!

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

Most rack-mount gear is not grounded to the chassis of the device, so separating the chassis from the rack-ears will have no effect on ground-loops. In those rare cases where it does, electrical tape is cheap, readily available and easier to install. The real reason you want these things is because they help protect the delicate edges of your gear from banging the sides. They also help protect against the screws which will scratch and scrape the finish. Of course, plastic washers and more tape will do a good job of that too, but these look more "pro." You be the judge. Do you want to buy cheap little plastic parts at a thousand times their value just to look cool?

Tricky, but not impossible

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

Installation is tough, but one suggestion I have (after mounting almost a dozen units) is to cut just a hair off the piece that sits between the rackmount gear and the rack rail. I cut the side with 3 edges, at the corners so it becomes square. Snipping that little bit off means that it wont push against the side of your power amp or rack gear when you're trying to place that hole over the rail threads. This will save you a LOT of time trying to get that rack screw lined up perfectly!

Theese do actually work. But they are a real pain to install. Oh well. And If you have a QSE PLX series power amp they dont work with those due to the shape of the amp. Hey they are cheap as hell. What do you want?

Like I said, an inexpensive piece of mind. It wasnt nearly as hard as some people made it out to be to install. I installed them on a power conditioner and a compressor. I use quality cables so why not go that extra little mile to make sure you can have the best quality sound.

These things are great. I've never had a single piece of gear get rack rash, in many years. They are a little trying to install, but once you've got them in place they look good and also help prevent ground-loop hum. I consider these essential to my gear.

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

These are a MUST own, if you have a Voltage Regulator. Groundloops are one of the VERY most common noises in amateur systems. Physical isolation is necessary. These are easy to install (despite other complaints) and perform very well. I stand by them.

      By Anonymous

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

This product may be good in concept but I spent an hour trying to get these things put into my rack-with no avail. It was almost impossible to say how well they work, overall it's not worth the time you will spend to try and get them in your rack. Save your money. Find another way to get rid of any hum that you may get from conductivity

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

I know a lot of people don't like Humfrees because they are a pain to get on and off, but there really isn't another alternative to what these do. If you use double washers the gear is still grounding to the screw, YEAH that's right, the screw is metal. These also make sure that your rack gear is spaced so it's not touching the piece above or below. No ground loops, and no scratches, good addition for any professional rack.

      No other choice really

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

Look, you bought all this rak gear so you could get the best tone possible, right? Now you're going to put it in a rack where it's getting ground loops that ruin the otherwise pristine sound you so carefully crafted? If you want the best sound there really is no other choice and while the price might seem a little steep for little pieces of plastic, I'd like to personally thank Humfrees for making something available that no one else provides,

You'll spend hours of time trying to get these to fit, line up, screw on, etc. And in the end, you'll just end up frustrated. I can't tell you if they eliminate hum, because I never got them on, it is an impossible feat. Save your money and look elsewhere for a hum solution.

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

What are you guys complaining about? Yes. These little guys a little cumbersome installing but if you got rack - you want to make sure that your "Stuff" is protected. I am pretty anal about keeping my stuff clean and scratch free.Other than keeping my rack hum free - the isolation tabs keeps the rack screws from rashing up my equipment!! That is the value add alone.

      Cruccial addition to any rack!

      By Anonymous

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

These are a crucial addition to any rack. I have used them for about nine years now and will always use them. They do the job 100% and do it for the cost of a trip to McD's.People who are complaing about them being hard to put on would probably have trouble mounting rack gear regardless. It does not take a rocket scientist to install these things.

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

This product is just plastic tabs, but gets the job done. Installation is simple if you take your time. I suggest bending the tabs at the very point possible before mounting. I also suggest mounting all your units before you tighten down the screws. They tend to bulge out when you tighten them, as long as you mount everything first, they are very simple to install and are worth it.

      A little easier than do-it-yourself

      By Beatnik

      from california

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

on my rack cmoponents I used rubber gromets and polyethylene insulators from Radioshak to prevent hum. Humfrees are actualy cheaper and a little easier to install (not much though). They're a pain to put on, but if you can prevent metal to metal contact, you will eliminate hum. A better idea would be to make polymer or ceramic rack rails!

Comments about Humfrees Rack Isolation Tabs:

I read the other reviews about these things being difficult to install so I went into this with some apprehension. They were by no means easy to install, but for 3 pieces of rack gear it took me 40-45 minutes. THEY DO WORK!! No more ground loop noise in my rack! I use these in a rack containing very high end bass guitar gear, and it is now virtually noiseless! Worth the money and the little bit of elbow grease required to install them! If you are thinking about using these, go ahead and gamble the 5 bucks and just exercise a little patience. They will pay off.
