Intellitouch changed instrument tuners forever in 1997 when it introduced a new concept that opened up possibilities for musicians as the world's first tuner that clipped onto an instrument and sensed its vibrations, instead of using a microphone or required a cable to plug in. It's designed for electric and acoustic guitars, basses, violins, banjos, mandolins and more!
The Intellitouch PT30 Classic Tuner features a four-position backlight color selector located on the backside, making it easy to choose the backlight color you prefer. Choose between bright white, bright blue, and a bright red. This is particularly good news to the many colorblind musicians who have said that red or green backlights simply appear as grey on black. In addition, the display features eight arrows instead of the PT1's six arrows. More arrows means better control over your instrument string's tuning. Answering the call for a brighter backlight, the PT30 tuner features a much brighter backlight, making it effortless to use in dimly lit conditions.
The vastly improved clamp clips onto the headstock much more firmly than any of OnBoard Research's previous models. Still a one-handed, easy-on, easy-off design, it will clip on and stay on your instrument. Plus, the dual ball-and-socket arm connects the tuner to the clamp, making the Intellitouch tuner and the clamp completely independent from each other. The patented design of the arm enables you to clip the clamp onto the headstock anywhere you prefer, and adjust the tuner closely and neatly behind the headstock, making it perfect for direct viewing and providing the proper viewing angle for left-handed players as well. The internal tuning reference of the tuner can be recalibrated between 430Hz and 450Hz using simple up and down arrows located on the tuner.

I thought "way cool" when I saw a friend using one and got one for myself. What's good about it is it can clip on your guitar and you don't need to be plugged in or use sound. that's right, no more "pling, pling, pling" to the annoyance of others. works off of vibration.What I don't like most: it sucks up batteries. It must draw the batteries down when not in use because I swear I have used it say a dozen times over the course of a few weeks, and boom, dead batteries. Also, it is hard to use on guitar with small head stocks like Teles.Works "OK". Not the best tuner I have ever used.

When on tour I don't usually bring a pedal board for my acoustic rig. Most of the time I us a Sennheiser wireless pack right into the sound system. Quietly tuning my acoustic on stage with a pedal is always a hassle and takes up valuable set up time doing fancy wiring. With the PT30 it's as easy as hitting the mute switch and clipping it on. It works great for that. I also use it for practice when I don't want to break out my full rig with my PollyTune (which I also highly recommend).

I purchased this tuner a couple months ago & have generally enjoyed it ever since. This tuner is accurate, but responds a little slower than I'd like at times. On the positive side, the tuner is very easy to view while tuning (and whether in the darkness or in sunlight) it's back lit (something a lot of tuners do not offer), has three easily switchable colors for the backlight, and tunes well in a noisy room. I would prefer a Boss TU-2 or -3 over this gigging, but at home or an open mic the PT30 works just fine.

I bought this unit, the Intellitouch PT30 Classic and the Sabine Zoid... The Sabine unit blows the PT30 out of the water as far as functionality! I tested both units out on three different guitars and on all three guitars I could not get the G string to register on the Intellitouch. I only wish that the Sabine had the "ball joint" design that the Intellitouch has. regardless the Intellitouch unit is useless as a tuner and the display is hard to see no matter what background color is used. Maybe I got a lemon but I've been playing guitar and using tuners for over 25 years now, and as tuner, this unit Blows Chunks! Don't waste your cash on this thing!

It's not the fastest, but it's accurate. I plugged into a Boss tuner to check it and it was accurate, but it wasn't as quick. That wasn't a deal breaker to me. What was the deal MAKER was that it worked on my 5 string bass too! Again, not the fastest, but it works! You can change the pitch value and changing the background colors are cool options, but I turned the back light off to save battery.
