Having received this a few weeks ago and immediately put it into service, I can say it is well constructed and reasonably durable. Though I am using it in a "fixed" context (studio), to run 8 channels from our drum kit to clean up the wire mess, I would not hesitate to use it on live gigs.As with any equipment, you need to be conscious of tossing it about. No matter how good the build quality, nothing will withstand abuse. While there have been complaints listed here, I'll wager these were probably as a result of some kind of abuse (accidental or as a consequence of inattention) not stated. If you take care of your ear, it should not suffer these problems. This snake does not contain any returns, not a feature I really need for pure mic cable runs. So if you want returns, keep looking. This is not for you.I have not hesitated to recommend this to my sound tech for the PA and the same application for the live setup for the drum kit mic run.

I was having a tough time deciding on whether or not i should buy this.. I was reading the reviews saying that people had channels going bad, but i thought if i was using it in my studio without moving it everything would be fine. Well, i recorded 2 bands. Moved it twice, and plugged/unplugged the cables 2 times. Channels 1-4 all have gone out. Our studio is nice and clean, uncluttered and this thing has sustained no abuse whatsoever. I'm getting a RA label and getting a replacement. I hope that the next one doesn't fail me like this one did, or i'll be spending alot of money for a new snake.

Not quite what I hoped...even at the price

By RadioMark-DiUla

from Minnesota

I bought one of these for occasional live sound events with a radio station I work for. Price drew me in, of course, plus it had more channels than I even needed. I have been the only one handling it, with care, but I hadn't done half a dozen gigs and some channels started exhibiting problems. Opened it up and found poor solder work inside the box, and really bad work in the mic connectors. I'm re-working them all just because I have the time right now, but I wish I didn't have to.

Used it for over a year now

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I bought this on sale for $40 a while back. It has eliminated most of the stage clutter. I run 4 microphones, a keyboard, and v-drums to it with short cables and love it. No problems, works great.

Get The Clutter off Stage

By banjodave

from Eagle, CO

This is the most flexable snake cable I have ever seen. We leave it plugged in to the mixer and roll it back up to travel in our gig rig. We have done this twice a week for a year now with no signs of fatigue. We set it in the middle of the stage and use 6' cables to run to the 8 mics we use with our bluegrass band. Makes a very clean and fast setup.

For Traveling PA work

By Blivit

First let me state price steered me to this product. I wasn't expecting a rugged workhorse snake, just one that I could use casually and treat with care. I have had experience with far more expensive snakes and always found bad channels. I did a video of a play and the "sound man" offered his snake for my two condenser mikes at the stage. It took me almost up to show time to find working channels! So any snake regardless of cost can and will have bad runs due to mis-treatment. Baby them and you will not be disappointed! This snake works for me!

Cheap & Reliable

By MattyW

from PA

We purchased one of these in the 30' length to use in our project studio. It does not get moved around at all, and it does not get stepped on. I have used it in recording of at least 10 bands, using it to run signals from the live room into the control room, direct into the mixer. I have not had any problems with the unit what-so-ever. At this price I was actually suprised to find it has lasted this long with no bad channels. I should point out that the male ends are not plugged in and out often, they are pretty much fixed. I don't believe the unit would stand upto the abuse of live use, or if I were constantly changing connections but for a fixed installation, its hard to go wrong especially at this price.

Great snake for the money

Purchased this snake to use with a system that we use for my daughter and son's booster club activities at school and karoke. Found the 65' snake almost ideal for light duty use. The only thing missing is a set of returns (2 or 4 channel would be great).Overall great buy and decent quality.

Makes Mic Management Easy!

By PCS2

from West End, NJ

We've had our 30' snake in use for over a year now with absolutely no problems. It's given us a central spot to plug our mics in on stage instead of scattered all over the place, which makes the stage neater, set-up and break-down faster, and our mic cables last longer because they're no longer being strained.

I do live sound and I must say this item is a BEST BUY in my book. Handle it professionally, do not yank on the connectors, store and transport it in a small case and it should do you fine.

Clean up your drum feeds!

By Darnstrat

I bought one of these to clean up the drum mic lines in the studio... While I don't think it's roadworthy, for a fixed location or where there will be limited wear and tear, it's a great deal!

9 uses, 4 bad channels...

By Infojunk

from Texas

Worst snake I have ever owned. Even though it has been pampered (its own crate, bag for the connectors to remove any potential for strain, no weight ever put on connectors) 4 channels have gone out (shielding pulled away at the fan end). I repaired it for the last time last night, after the next gig it is going in the trash.

I'll be quit honest, I didn't have very much money when I bought this and I wasn't expecting much! Just take care of it and it will be fine! I make sure there is no stress on the ends and put somewhere it won't be stepped on! So I would say buy it and baby it! I'm gonna buy another one for my new 16 ch mixer!

Bought one of this with the 65 feet lenght for our church service and used it once every sunday. After 8 months of use, 1-3 channels are out. This is one of those you get what you paid for.

Get what you pay for

I purchased 4 of the 50' snakes and used them approx. 5 times each. To date, all 4 have bad channels. After troubleshooting them, some have cold solder on the female end and some have bad female receptacles. They are falling apart. I will replace all females on the box with Neutrik.

No problems encountered

My band purchased one of the 30' snakes nearly a year ago and we have used it nearly every time we've set up our PA. We've kept it in the box it was shipped in when not in use and always make sure not to put any stress on the ends when plugging into the board. We use it for our 8 drum channels and so far it has worked great. We're even looking at buying another 30' one and a 50' one to clean up our stage cable runs even more.

Don't move it ever

By Bobby-D3ngG

I've had this snake for about 2 months and I use it in a small home studio to go from my "control room" (a bedroom) to my "live room" (my living room). Somewhere in that time channel 3 quit working all together. I tried re-soldering the connections (luckily they are the kind that can be re-soldered) but that didn't work. The cable apparently broke somewhere in the line. I have used the snake very lightly and only moved it a few times.

I have used this snake in my home studio for over a year now and it works just fine. I never move it or un-plug it from my sound board so I probably am not stressing it out much.
