It is a great stand it is well built. All the adjuster knobs are thicker and have bigger grips than ultra and proline. it does not move once set up.
It is a little more expensive than the competition, but you get what you pay for. I will be buying more of these.

I bought 3 of these because the reviews online were mostly favorable. However, when they arrived, only 1 of the 3 was built properly. The issue is the plastic caps in the rectangular shafts for the boom. During the manufacturing, the caps are being pushed in too far, or at bad angles. One stand came with the cap pushed in so far that I'm worried how long the boom will last before the mic starts to sag down. Another arrived with the cap pushed in at a wrong angle, cracking parts of the cap and bending the rectangular shaft. This makes the boom hard to move because the cap is jammed in tight at a wrong angle.

I contacted MF about the cracked cap (I didn't notice the other wrong stand) and received a replacement. However, the cap in the replacement was again pushed in at a bad angle, and cracked. The replacement isn't as bad, but still I've received 4 stands and only 1 was built properly.

Comments about JamStands Tripod Microphone Stand with Telescoping Boom:

Stand drooped badly. I don't have weak hands, and tightened the knob as tightly as I could, without breaking something. Put an ordinary dynamic mic on it, and it gradually sinks. Unacceptable. Thought I was buying something a cut above the very cheapest stands. Paying a little more doesn't always guarantee better quality, I guess. Send it back and replaced it with a ProLine. Much better.

Bolt heads stripped, cheap parts. OK if you set it and forget it. If you're setting up and tearing down, even infrequently, get something else.

Comments about JamStands Tripod Microphone Stand with Telescoping Boom:

I bought two of these stands for traveling use. I transported and used them once, and the plastic hinge for one of the legs on one of the stands broke after just one use. I'm hoping the hinges for the other stand hold up. The stands were transported with two comparable On-Stage stands (that I've had for years) in an On-Stage stand carrying bag designed for use with 6 stands. The bag was not overloaded, and the stands were not subjected to rough handling.

Comments about JamStands Tripod Microphone Stand with Telescoping Boom:

I bought this new mic stand with a boom because my old one kept slipping - - it wouldn't hold a typical size microphone in position. I bought this new one, selected it especially because it was part of the "Ultimate" family of products, with which I have had good experience in the past. Guess what? This one does exactly what my old one did. No matter how much I try to tighten the knuckle to hold the extended boom in place, it keeps drifting down. I can't sing, play guitar and hold my mic up at the same time. Therefore, it was essentially unusable. So I replaced the "knuckle" with a nut and carry a wrench to make it as tight as needed. It was a meaningless purchase. I could have used my nut and wrench remedy for the old one. What a shame for Ultimate.

I had to really crank down on the pivot bolt to keep the mic from drooping. It's more sturdy than some of the cheaper stands out there. It's a decent stand for the money.

This is a nice functional stand for the price. Hardware works well. Not all pertinent specs are listed. If you want to buy a drink holder, pick holder, etc., know that only the vertical portion is 3/4". The upper stage and boom arm are only 5/8". I had to call JamStands myself to get that info. I let Musician's Friend know they should include that in the description.
