Comments about Jensen C10R 25W 10" Replacement Speaker:

If you read the internet forums you'd think ALL the Jensen Reissue speakers are complete junk. I've had two PRRIs, one with the stock C10r, and a FSR model with the Celestion Greenback 10. I am looking for the wonderful Princeton Reverb shimmering cleans, which I think the Jensen C10r delivers perfectly. The Celestion didn't have that shimmering organic touch and the bass sounded muted to me, so I replaced it with another C10r (at least I still have the two tone green/white tolex).

For my purposes, Fender made a good decision to use the stock C10r. There may be Webers or others as good or better but I love the sound of the stock speaker. Very Blackface sounding and just beautiful in the PRRI. Really brings out the shimmering highs and haunting depth of this amp. Very touch sensitive.

I may be in the minority, but this speaker suits my tastes very well. I am basing this on time spent after at least a reasonable breakin period. I suspect loud breakup is not its strong suit, but the cleans are sweet...not to mention the reasonable pricing.

Comments about Jensen C10R 25W 10" Replacement Speaker:

I put this speaker in my 72 Fender Princeton because the Celestion that had been in it since the early 80s had seen better days. My thinking was that if I didnt like it I wouldnt be out of a big chunk of change. Its been in the amp for about a year and I have no plans of changing it for many more. The sound is very expansive and massively present. It is however not a very loud speaker respectively when compared with the Celestion it replaced. All in all it is a signifigant improvement in tone and an unbeatable value.

Comments about Jensen C10R 25W 10" Replacement Speaker:

This speaker came stock in my Fender '65 Princeton Reverb Reissue, and to date it is the best-sounding speaker I have heard. I had heard a lot of hype about alnico speakers and other brands and expected I might need to upgrade the stock speaker. However, after much experimentation I stand behind this speaker 100%. Perception of sound is subjective; that being said, this speaker is clear and warm without harshness or muddiness. It is very well-voiced for guitar. Sometimes the cheaper, lighter-weight speaker really is better...but of course let your ears decide.

        Better than I was expecting

Comments about Jensen C10R 25W 10" Replacement Speaker:

I purchased the reissue Jensen C10R as a replacement for the damaged Oxford speaker in my '71 Princeton Amp. Initially I did so as a temp measure, with the intention of eventually replacing it with a Weber. Two years later, and it's still in the amp. I had heard mixed reviews of the reissue Jensen speakers, and while they may not sound exactly like the 60s era models, they sound much better than what everyone led me to believe. It has a good balance of low (100-200Hz) warmth and treble (2-5kHz) articulation, and fairly late breakup. It's not an extremely efficient (nor inefficient) speaker (~94.7dB@1W,1m), so if you're looking for maximum (or minimum) volume for a given wattage, you may want to look elsewhere. It does pair nicely with old Fender tube amps such as the Princeton, and provides a classic, well known sound.
