Comments about Jensen Jet Series Falcon 12" 50 Watt Guitar Speaker:

I have been using a two speaker setup that had a pair of Celestion Vin30s which are my absolute favorite speaker, but, I wanted to add some complexity to my tone. The Jensen was perfect. The Vin30 has a mid scoop tone while the Falcon adds some lower mid honk to the tone. This would be a perfect speaker for a live setting as it would make you really stick out.

Comments about Jensen Jet Series Falcon 12" 50 Watt Guitar Speaker:

If you play electric blues/jazz, classic rock, or like a great crunch in rhythm in country then this speaker is great! If you like chugging palm mutes for metal then you need to give it plenty of time to break in. I had bought one before looking for a replacement for a Celestion/VOX Greenback in my Night Train NT112C open back cab and while it still sounded great, it was a Seismic Audio 2x12 ported cab that really brought this speaker out. Its an over-all great speaker that multiple genre-friendly. It has great response to breakup and didn't get muddy in jazz chords (A9, ECT.) and for someone who plays anywhere from country to thrash, it suits me very well. I always get compliments from the sound where people paid no mind to the greenback. My current rig is running an Orange Dark Terror with the aforementioned 2x12 ported cab. I think I found my favorite speaker that I like better then the V30 and greenback. It was funny during break-in while playing thrash, the speaker made a squeaky "pew" sound at the beginning of the chug that reminded me of an old sci-fi laser blast. They really meant it when advertised to have optimum tone regardless of genre. If you stick to just one genre, you may find you like some speakers more then others.

Comments about Jensen Jet Series Falcon 12" 50 Watt Guitar Speaker:

Bought a Fender 65 Princeton Reverb Reissue about 10 months ago. It has the 12" Jensen P12Q alnico speaker. Overall a fantastic little amp. Cosmetically eye pleasing and sound to match. The P12Q, however, is a little bit harsh and brittle in the treble frequencies. I was hoping this would soften with time but after 10 months, no real difference. The only cure was to back off on the treble but then I lost the emphasis of those frequencies in the sound. Started looking around for a replacement speaker and landed on the Jensen Falcon 50. I was reluctant to replace an alnico speaker with a ceramic one because I've long held the view that alnico delivers superior tone, and normally, that's true. But, not in this case! Just installed the Falcon a couple hours ago and right from the first 3 chords I knew I had struck gold! Beautiful, detailed cleans seem to swirl out of the amp (just as detailed as the alnico) but when I engaged my favorite overdrive pedal and Pearly Gates neck pup of my Les Paul I knew I had entered the Tone Zone. OD, no matter how much you pour on, comes through warm, velvety, creamy, and with just the right amount of grit. Even with the treble turned up much higher than normal. Otherwise, tonally, it is much like the P12Q. Not dark or light, just right. I lucked up and got the last one of these that MusiciansFriend had in stock, but they'll get more. This Princeton, now fitted with the Falcon speaker is now my favorite out of 6 amps. And the speaker isn't even broke in yet!
