It is clear to me that the negative reviews are from people who do not understand how to properly select a speaker for their guitar amp. In their defence, this is not a straight-forward task and may, sometimes, require some trial and error before you find the right match.
However, it is not fair to downgrade a speaker simply because you don't know how to use it.
The P10R is a well known and respected speaker in the music industry and Jensen has done a marvellous job with this one. This speaker was developed specifically for Fender amps, but it can be used with other amps, as long as you can find a good match. It has an alnico magnet and provides a very dynamic and articulate sound when installed in a Princeton Reverb. It's warm, clear, not brittle, with a typical alnico personality.
BTW, there are excellent speakers out there with ceramic magnets too. They sound different, not better or worse, and that's what most of these people reviewing products do not understand. They think one speaker, or amp, or guitar is better than others just because they have it or give them the sound they want. When it comes down to good quality equipment, there is no better or worse, just different tone, dynamics, response, feel, touch, sound, ....., you get it.
The reason I bought my blonde Princeton was because of this speaker, and the colour as well. To my ears, it sounded like a perfect match for what I was looking for. A great small amp, that could be mic'd when needed, easy to transport and ideal for jazz, classic country and western, blues, rockabilly, and great with pedals.
I tried other Princetons with stock speakers and was happy that the blonde/wheat version had the sound I wanted.
If you have an amp, do some homework before you swap speakers. Weber, Eminence, Celestion, Jensen, etc., are all great speakers. A good tip: a lot of the work has already been done by the manufacturers, so learn about the amps and the design of each equipment, and select the speaker accordingly.

I installed four new Jensen P10R speakers in my 1968 Fender Super Reverb. These speakers are way too bright to my taste, and I can't imagine why they are advertize them as "warm" sounding. I have another Super Reverb with the original (reconed) speakers and the contrast is drastic. The new Jensen P10R's is like having the Bright switch on all the time. I turned down the Treble to 4 to get a tone that would still be considered spiky (think Albert Collins). I wouldn't recommend these speakers to anyone wanting a "warm" sounding speaker.

Comments about Jensen P10R 25 Watt 10" Replacement Speaker:

To all the people who put these in their amp and say its too bright, that has to do with the amp's wiring and the tubes. It isn't just the speakers, these speakers are great!

Comments about Jensen P10R 25 Watt 10" Replacement Speaker:

I just replaced the stock fender speakers on my pro jr with this Jensen P10R and sound has improved dramatically. It is no wonder Fender uses these speakers on the limited edition pro jr woody. The speaker is not bright sounding at all, well at least on the pro jr. I guess it depends on the amp. On some amps it may not compliment the amp sound. Its a little pricey though.

OUCH!!!...TOO BRIGHT

Comments about Jensen P10R 25 Watt 10" Replacement Speaker:

I have tried four these speakers in my Laney Class-A 30W (EL34 tubes) with the matching extension cab and then in my Fender Bassman 60W (6L6 tubes)and in both amps these speakers are too bright...it doesn't matter...single coil...humbucker...P90...all too bright with these speakers...I'd be interested in trying out Celestion's new 10" version of their famous G12M Greenback speaker...of course anyting would sound better then the Jensen P10R speaker

Go with Weber

Comments about Jensen P10R 25 Watt 10" Replacement Speaker:

I agree with a lot of the other comments on this speaker. I believe that it is too bright and, when pushed, sounds a bit harsh and raspy. I recently replaced the stock (junk) speaker in my Crate v5 with a Weber alnico 10s speaker and the difference was amazing. Granted, it's still a crate v5 but for a 5-watt el84 tube amp, it sounds pretty smooth. The Weber is a great, high quality speaker made in the USA and is a far better speaker (I believe) than the Jensen. And its about half the price. If you're considering Jensen, or any quality speaker for that matter, take a look at the Webers first.

I was looking for the Vintage Bassman 4X10 sound. To be fair I ran the speakers for 50 Hours with a looping Rock CD, through and amp very loud. Just not the sound I am looking for. Too much Treble, Fair bass.

Comments about Jensen P10R 25 Watt 10" Replacement Speaker:

Great speaker for the right use, these are great in more moody / bluesy amps. I put one in my pro jr and it really brought out the mids and highs while keeping that tradition bluesy fender sound. If you're planning on running this with some low gain tubes then I'd say it might not be right for you. Sounds great with 2 12ax7s and EL84s.
