The Joe Barden J-Style 4 String Bass Pickup Set offers the same great Joe Barden tone, power, and response for the bass guitar as their ground breaking double-blade guitar pickups have done for 6 string guitars for the last 25 years. This set will take your bass sound to a whole new level.
The J-Style pickups were designed to maintain authentic J-Bass tone and character but with extended frequency response and articulation that characterizes all Joe Barden pickups. And, like all other Joe Barden pickups, the J-Style pickups exhibit quiet performance for live performance or recording.
Now, bass players are free to tailor their sound more precisely than was possible with stock pickups, and can select one or both pickups without fear of noise or hum often induced by traditional single coil bass pickups.
Neck and bridge position pickups differ in size to fit into the cavities of traditional J-Bass and similarly styled guitars without modification to the instrument.
J-Style pickups are available for both 4 and 5 string J-Bass styled bass guitars.

These pickups were not what I expected. After much research I bought them for my Geddy Lee jazz bass. When I got them I couldn't wait to put them in. I was dissapointed with the sound. I found them to be very quiet in volume, very flat in sound(lows to highs)and just no punch. The guys in my band were even dissapointed. So I sent them back. Thanks musicians friend for the 45 day money back return. You guys are AWESOME!

A few months ago, I was looking to upgrade my main Fender Jazz bass to a set of better sounding pickups. I was considering getting the Basslines, but then I came arcoss these... and I'm glad I did! A little on the expensive side, but they were worth EVERY penny! I remember taking my bass into the music shop to get them installed, and the tech just smiled when he saw what I had... he was just as excited as I was! My bass sounded great before- but now the sound, the tone, the growl that comes from it is simply phenomenal! These pickups are also noise-free! My band played a show last friday, and a few people came up after the gig and told me how killer my bass sounded... Simply put, I will NEVER need to buy another bass or change anything other than strings again, because these have turned my Jazz bass into the best sounding bass I've ever heard in my life! No joking- these are seriously THAT good. If you've got the money, upgrade to these. You won't be disappointed! ;)

My pickups died on my Geddy four days before an audition. I imedietely jumped on and slung the arrow of chance at these. There were no reviews, but people swear by this company on a forum I routinely scan. I sprung for the overnight cause I needed them right then. Low an behold, one of the worst storms to strike the country delay them till Thursday...needed em Wednesday. That's not UPS or Musician's Friend's fault. I get them to my tech and he just smiles and I didn't know why at the time. I pick up my beloved bass on Friday. I must say, far and away, the biggest improvement over the stock pickups. The clarity and power and depth are huge. Make sure your tech installs all the components or you will lose power. Used a backup bass for the audition, which I got the gig. They are going to be stunned when I show up with the Geddy on steroids. Thank you Musician's Friend for now carrying the Joe Barden product line. And thank you Joe Barden for blowing my mind.
