I am a professional studio musician for mainly country, Gospel, and bluegrass music. I had been using Elixir's for years and never thought about trying anything else. Well one day i wanted to try out some for the heck of it and I got these John Pearse strings along with a bunch of other strings that were sent to me to see if I would market. These strings blew me away!! They had a louder sound than any other strings i tried. They had a super great tone. I was able to tell a very noticeable difference in the rich lows that were added with these strings. The only bad thing is they don't last as long as the coated strings but sometimes you have to decide if you want a better tone and change strings more often or have something like Elixir's that don't sound as good but can stay on there for a longer time. Oh and even people that have no clue about guitars, would hear my guitar and ask if I done something to it b/c it sounded louder and better and I have a Customized Larivee that Jean made for me!!

I tried these after other folks had given good reviews for them. I put them on my Tacoma JR55 Jumbo rosewood/spruce and on my Asian Breedlove maple/spruce dreadnaught guitar. They were so dark and muddy that I replaced them by the next day with EXP light gauge strings. I am now sold on the EXP; 80/20 bronze for bluegrass boldness, or phosphor bronze for warmth. Elixir is good, but they don't seem to keep good tone after a month or so. If you like a brighter sound, you might want to try another string rather than John Pearse. I wish I had spent my money on D'Addario EXP's!

Just put on my first set of John Pearse 80/20. I've been using Elixers on my 16 series martin. The difference in sound is pretty dramatic. It just sings.

Comments about John Pearse 200L 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These are my standard strings on a big rosewood Martin dred. Been using them for about 5 years, and though they cost a little more, to me they are worth it. They are consistent, don't break, and sound great -- even right out of the box.

              Great while they lasted!

Comments about John Pearse 200L 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These were great strings- great tonality, great clarity- can hear every note; but they went completely dead in a couple of days. At $ a set, these should have lasted a couple of months. Would not buy again.
              These strings are overpriced.

Comments about John Pearse 200L 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I bought these while on the road at a small music store, they had one set of acoustic strings left, John Pearse,so making a choice was easy. I put them on my Martin D-18 and it sang like never before! No doubt the best strings you can buy, for longevity, tuning, and great sound. I have never bought anything else since and that was many years ago. I've told every player I know about these, that's how impressed I am.

I love these strings. I have these on my martin d18vs and all I can say is wow. If you want to hear what your guitar sounds like, these are the strings to get. Hear all the wood tones, the clarity is amazing.

My guitar teacher told me to try these strings and I loved them! A part-time blue grass acoustic player, I need all the good sound I can get, and these were the ticket.

Comments about John Pearse 200L 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I tried these strings on a whim because I had heard about them from a friend, and these are the best strings i have ever used. They have great soaring highs and tight, controlled lows. They stay in tune very well and hold up to humidity changes. I won't ever use another acoustic string again. Even though these aren't coated (i hate the dull coated tone and "shedding") they last really long! Does anyone know how I can become and endorser? The only complaint I have is that the gauges are a little thick for me (but hey, they're acoustic strings). I gave it a 5 for features because it's nothing revolutionary. Great strings, buy them today!
