Comments about John Pearse 500XL Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I was reticent to do a review of these strings after trying them on my Martin D16 because they were just ok, but I tried a set on my IB 64 Texan and it just came to life right before my ears! Long lasting, easy feel, great tone. They're a little dearer, but they also hold their tone and tune a good long time.

Comments about John Pearse 500XL Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Except for period of a few months, I've played these strings exclusively on my acoustic since 2008. I don't play acoustic a whole lot but with my hard playing, extensive bends and heavy vibrato, and the life-expectancy of these for me is a few months. I favor round shoulder jumbos ("J", "AJ" series) and these strings really let them sing. Even with hard playing, the higher unwound strings resist breaking, as I can only remember breaking a high E changing between "open G" and standard tuning. Overall I love these strings and have sworn by them for 6 years. As an earlier post stated, I also wish they were sold in multi-packs with a slight discount.

John Pearse Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings

When I bought my current favorite guitar nearly 4 years ago (non-electrified dreadnought with solid cedar top and rosewood back and sides) I started trying out lots of different string brands and constructions. These aren't the brightest--you don't get that overwhelming new string 'rush' when you first put them on, but you also don't get that quick fade to mediocrity that many strings, to my ear, exhibit. Rather, they're rich and mellow from the start, and tend to stay that way much longer than I would expect them to. Bottom line: after trying more than a dozen other strings on this guitar, I've taken to buying these exclusively. Just wish I could get multi-pak discounts on them.
Consistently well-made. An excellent product by an apparently quality-conscious company.
Not the cheapest, but reasonably priced. Just wish MF would offer them in a multi-pak value package like some of the other brands.

      Good strings

Comments about John Pearse 500XL Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I first started playing these strings about a year ago, and I have stuck with them ever since. They kinda lose their tone and bright sound after about a month or 2, but that is fine for me because I don't change my acoustic strings too often anyway. These strings really feel great and sound rich and full when you first string 'em up, but as I said earlier, they don't "last" as long as some people would probably prefer. Ultimately, for my needs, these are my favorite strings.

These strings are very clear and full-sonding. I was very pleased when I recently strung these up on my acoustic. Pretty sweet strings!
