JP Tools

Change guitar strings, make action adjustments easily on the fly with this all-in-tool.

Changing strings and adjusting the action of your guitar just got easier. The JP Guitar Tool, is an all-purpose tool for use with acoustic or electric guitars and bass guitars.

The JP Guitar Tool is built to last. The handle and housing for the tools is made with 300 series stainless steel that won’t rust or dull over time. The screwdrivers and Allen wrenches are hardened steel so they won’t strip out nor rust either. The Allen wrenches are compatible with most popular brands of guitars including Floyd Rose.

The string cuter is carbide steel and is so tough you can even cut bass guitar strings with it. It never needs sharpening. Carbide steel is the hardest steel and also the hardest man-made material, harder than stainless steel and titanium.

See and feel the quality of the JP Guitar Tool for yourself. The tailor-made grip makes the tool easy to use in your hand. There’s a bridge pin puller for changing acoustic guitar strings that tucks inconspicuously into the handles. Included is a tough, durable nylon sheath, with a belt loop.

This is not a “Use once and throw out tool”. It is the genuine article. As a player, you will use this tool for life. It's perfect for a quick string change and guitar setup.

Note: This was formerly known as Slip Farley's Deluxe Guitar Tool, so for the sake of the comments area below, they are referring to the former model.

Low tech construction - the frame is stamped metal, the allens and such are on friction pivots, not snap action like a pocket knife, and the bridge pin puller will bend in use on those stubborn pins where you really need it. Frustratingly, I had to use another set of pliers to straighten the puller because the puller is attached to this thing, and anyway the tips are not really pliers. I'm going to try the Dunlop pin puller and see if it is better. The cutters work fine so far (one restringing on my acoustic bass)with no signs of nicking on the hardened insert cutting edges. They will probably last years of hobbyist use.It has two screwdriver blades, but you'll probably use real screwdrivers anyway. The tips should have actually been pliers instead of pointy metal with unknown purpose. It should have included a simple string winder. It should have folded into a useful screwdriver handle like a Leatherman or similar. But in the end, I have not found many guitarist multi-tools, and just being decent cutters with a pin puller that might last a few uses will probably be enough to keep this in my case. Hardly a glowing rating, but I'm keeping mine.

I got this free with my guitar case several years ago. None of the hex keys fit ANY of my guitars truss rod or saddles. Input jack wrench doesn't even fit an input jack nut. And the philips and flathead screwdrivers are awkward to use. The only thing this thing does at all for me is cut strings, and it does that extremely poorly. The cutter should have been at the edge cause it leaves a lot more left over slack on the string that can catch things, stab you, etc. You're better off using a regular string cutter, heck my leatherman multi tool is a better guitar tool then this thing it has pliers, a file, better screwdrivers, and a bottle opener (for that cold one after stringing up a guitar). Cost me about the same too. Save your money, buy a wire cutter and hex key set and you'll have something already 10x better then this thing for half the price.

Comments about JP Tools Guitar Tool:

I bought this so that I can work on my Taylor Expression System, thinking that the U-shaped tool would remove the ferrules. Unfortunately, the tool was too small. However, the clamp end on the front fit perfectly and I was able to successfully remove the circuit card. Victory. Nice tool to have.

Comments about JP Tools Guitar Tool:

I bought it expecting to get all adjustments being done with one tool but the cutting blades broke after two string changes. using the allen wrenches is difficult because you have to turn the whole tool and can scratch the instrument.
I contacted customer support to get a replacement for the broken cutting blades and never got an answer. My best advice is: Buy regular tools, they are cheaper and useful.

      cutting blades notch with use

      By Anonymous

Comments about JP Tools Guitar Tool:

the overall features are useful, but the cutting blades notched out after 2 string changes. It is already difficult to cut strings now, I don't expect it to be useable after a few more changes.

Comments about JP Tools Guitar Tool:

Is an expensive product , I bought it three months ago mainly because of the string cutting feature and today one blade is loose after the second string set change. the cutting blades are glued to the body of the tool. total disappointment

      Quality. Durable. Value.

      By Ed Hayman

      from Chico CA

Comments about JP Tools Guitar Tool:

I use this tool when changing strings and setting up my guitar. I love the tool. It does what it supposed to do and it does it extremely well. I have one in my gig bag and another in my kitchen drawer for those times when you need a screwdriver or wire cutter and don't want to walk out to the garage. The tool is compact, durable, and easy to use. It fits nicely in my hand. I love it! Like I said, I own two.

      Great Tool

      By Spector Bass Player

      from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about JP Tools Guitar Tool:

Farley's Deluxe Guitar Tool is a great little multi tool for bass and guitar. I am a "semi-pro" musician and tinker with guitar set up at home. The Tool is well made. Made of metal. it is pretty tough. I have had other tool that had plastic casings that over time broke due to wear and stress. No worries with Farley's Deluxe Guitar Tool. The design is classic and easy to use.The allen wrenches fit my Ibanez Tremolo, my Jackson's Floyd Rose, my Spector and fender basses. The pin puller seems thin, but it works. It also contains a philips head and slotted screwdriver. The string cutters work for both guitars and basses. It could use a string winder and it would be absolutely perfect.I like the fact that you can just keep it in your case or it comes with a nylon pouch that you can loop through your belt to keep it close. For a tool made in the USA, made of good metal--- not pot metal---has a cutter and wrenches, I say it it is well worth the price.

      Love This Tool!

      By Stacy

      from Medford, OR

Comments about JP Tools Guitar Tool:

Farley's Deluxe Guitar Tool is the handiest tool ever devised for guitarists - a real jewel for changing strings. I was given one as a gift and now own four. I have one in each guitar case and keep one handy in my recording studio so I am never caught without. So much better than carrying a clunky collection of wrenches, screwdrivers and cutters. I love this tool!
