I've owned the KCP-5 Crash pad for several years now. I used it at home for my 5 Piece Gretsch Catalina with Hi-Hat and 3 cymbal set-up. To accommodate my full set, I have the base drum and Hi-Hat spurred into the pad, but my cymbal stands can only fit one, maybe two legs on the pad. The rubber edges do not prevent movement. To stop movement, I have to place as much of my throne on the pad as possible.
The material of the pad is much TOO thin. As noted in other reviews, the spurs from the hi-hat, Kick and even kick pedals can protrude through the pad and damage the floors underneath.
Because of their small footprints, Electronic or Portable Acoustic sets (Pearl Rhythm Traveler or Traps Drum A400) would be best suited for the Crash Pad.
Also note that when I first purchased the Crash Pad, I had to steam out its wrinkles caused by storage in its carrying case. To prevent them from returning, I disregard the carrying case and role it up when transporting it. All in all, I now only use this pad at small venues and carry four rubber backed rug tiles to protect customer floors. Otherwise, I use a plush area rug for my 8 piece Gretsch USA Custom.

Horrible, don't waste your money

Comments about Kaces KCP-5 Crash Pad Drum Rug:

I bought this same drummers mat but it's called a Road runner mat sold at GC... Man, I thought this was a great idea to have the angled wood stop built into the front of it to brace the bass drum. This idea works but that's the only good selling point. The carpet itself is horrible! Their is absolutely NO backing on the carpet! it's nothing more than a thin piece of carpet layed on the floor that moves with the lightest touch. The edges have a thinly sewed rubber band border but this does nothing for stability because the middle is where all the action is coming from when you use the bass drum kick pedals. The carpet moves all over the place and never stays flat even if you just walk on it... This drum Mat needs to be thicker to work. It needs to have a backing attached to it so it won't move around or bunch up. Maybe then it won't move when it's layed down on the floor. Final verdict; This drum mat is no different than laying a thin towel under your drum set.And if you did this obviously it's going to move around even when you walk on it to get to your drums. My advice to anyone looking to buy a drum mat for their set, don't buy any drum mat that's super thin like this one because you will end up doing what I am going to do with it.I lost the reciept so no it's going to be used to do oil changes in my garage when I have to lay on the ground...This is a horrible design!

Causes more problems than it solves

By Aexe

Comments about Kaces KCP-5 Crash Pad Drum Rug:

I bought this hoping the block on the front would prevent my kick from moving but because the rug is too small, I had to shift the kick to the right to fit the hi-hat stand on the rug, leaving half the kick touching the block. The entire rug creeps forward as I play also and begins to bunch up around the floor tom and hi-hat stand, frustrating! The fabric is too light and kick spurs punch holes in it after a few uses. This might work well for lighter players, but I wanted to throw it in the gutter and light it on fire last night. I will never use it again.

bass doesn't move, but everything else does

By tama_drummer87

Comments about Kaces KCP-5 Crash Pad Drum Rug:

I have used the Crash Pad by Kaces for about a 2 years, and I loved it at first. Its good for traveling light, saving space, and for keeping the kick drum from sliding. The thing is, my hihat stand slides away in about 2 songs, pushing my crash and high tom away from me. The rubber along the sides that supposedly keeps it from slipping really doesn't work because of all the creases it gets. This rug is good for a little while, but in the long run, its really not that worth it.

Comments about Kaces KCP-5 Crash Pad Drum Rug:

I bought this when it was on the "Stupid Deal of the Day" promo. My biggest beef is the size. I only play a small 4 pc trap kit with only 2 cymbal/tom stands and I can't even get all of their feet on the rug. It did its job and my kit stayed put. Here's the thing though, the rug material is not very thick so if you have the metal tips of your bass drum spurs exposed and you're playing on a wood floor, watch it - you will likely leave permanent scratches. Also, I bought a rug from Costco that was over twice the size and about $10 cheaper. It didn't have the bass drum block or the finished corners but it was the same material.

Comments about Kaces KCP-5 Crash Pad Drum Rug:

I bought this rug thinking I was going to stop my kick from wondering around. I was wrong. It shifts to the right because of the poor quality of the kick stop and manufacturing of the rug. My kick drums legs put a hole in it in less than a week. I still have to adjust my kit on stage after two to three songs, very irritating. Alright for the money, but I would suggest a much better rug for serious drummers.

Comments about Kaces KCP-5 Crash Pad Drum Rug:

Have had one of these for at least 10 years. Before I found this I struggled on the road. Hard to keep my American custom pork pies in place. The front of this rug has a kick stop that is amazing. Simple but amazing. For this price I'd buy it again and again but guess what.... It's made so good the 2 I have had lasted me 10 years and will probably for another ten. With all road wear and tear. LOVE IT. THANKS FOR A GOOD PRODUCT.
