A professional guitar stand with a neck-clamping system, adjustable height, and an anti-twist feature.

The K&M Memphis Pro Guitar Stand is a folding stand for all guitars that features a patented, flexible hooking-in and clamping system which quickly and firmly grasps the guitar neck (fits most instrument necks). Studs at the support arms provide extra protection. Height adjusts from 21.7" to 39.3", with convenient locking levers. An anti-twist feature on the guitar stand's extension rod is featured for extra safety. High quality non-marring rubber on the stand's neck grip and base helps to protect the guitar's finish; plus a stable, robust base ensures your guitar stays steady.

Comments about K&M Memphis Pro Guitar Stand:

This is the third one of these I've purchased (two from another retailer). The first is just about perfect. Everything works properly. The second had a critical manufacturing defect which caused it to collapse the first time I tried to hang an instrument on it. This one seems to have had the hanging yoke redesigned so it now has a right angle block of rubber on each side in front of the headstock which makes removing my Fender basses tricky without having the stand tip over. That pretty much negated one of the features I liked most about the first one- the simplicity of the yoke and how easy it is to place and remove an instrument.

Also, the top tube doesn't adjust smoothly on the third one (appears it might be slightly bent, but could be my eyes), and if I'm really nit-picking, it is missing the logo badge. All of this suggests K&M is slipping for quality control. Their customer service department never responded to an email I sent over a month ago about the defective one too.

This is the lightest and most compact of the hanging stands of this type. I had an Ultimate GS100 briefly (sent back, had a defective height adjustment clamp; was also wobbly and I didn't like the yoke shape- sort of wedged itself onto the neck). I also own a Hercules GS414, which is great- albeit the yoke is a tad over-engineered in my opinion (at the angle these sit, the force required to knock an instrument off would simply knock over the whole stand, so the auto-closing yoke is just extra moving parts to fail). The Hercules is considerably heavier and does not fold very compact compared to the K&M.

I really want to be able to recommend the K&M Memphis Pro, but given my 1 for 3 experience, I simply cannot. It is a shame, because the design is really pretty slick, and K&M used to have a good reputation for quality products.

Solid, but not the best for Telecasters

Comments about K&M Memphis Pro Guitar Stand:

These are nice, solid, stands. The build quality is close to a professional camera tripod (which makes me wonder why more music stands aren't build this way). They fold nicely for road use. I use these for a Les Paul, a Stratocaster and a couple Telecasters. They work best with a Les Paul-type headstock. On an offset Telecaster-type headstock, you have to consciously set the guitar in at an angle or else the guitar can slip and land on the tuning peg, possibly affecting your tuning.

      Good Stand

      By Sgtdawg17

Comments about K&M Memphis Pro Guitar Stand:

I really like this stand. That's why I have two! As long as these continue to hold up, who knows? I may have three one day!
It folds down to almost nothing, which makes it super easy to take to a gig. The mechanism which grabs the headstock automatically adjusts to any type of headstock for a sure grip. And, the padding on the legs protects the finish on the bass body. Using it is easy too. . . You just drop the headstock into the lock and let the bass go. To take it out, just grab the bass and lift it. It will adjust to any length bass or guitar.
The quality is really good. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is because I own two of these, and I extended the first one a little too aggressively and separated the two pieces of the main tube. I was able to put it back together, but as a result, I now handle both of them a little more delicately. I don't know if it was me being too aggressive or I simply got a bad stand the first time, but both now work great and I have not had the same issue with the second one.
At about 10-15 dollars less than a Hercules stand, it's a great value. It might not be as strong as a Hercules, but it does the job for me.
