At first glance, you'd say: "Wow... small! What? A metronome?" Then you'd get skeptical about its features. But when you're down with it, it's great! The size may let you go for something else, but when it's for features, MM-1 grabs it. The problems with other metronomes were either 1) price, 2) volume, or 3) interference. I looked into some products, but most got eliminated from my priority as a drummer. Volume! That was a problem! Earphones were necessary, but again, more economical ones didn't pack it in. So I went to the ones that feature earphones. Again, interference. Now, the price is a 'for all' category. It had to be reasonable. The MM-1 has it all. You may find that with 38 steps [40-208bmp], it's difficult to get exact beats. You can't get 78. It's 76 to 80. You cant get 47, it's 46 to 48. But that isn't generally a problem either. The quality is optimum, and if it weren't too small as to need so much care, it'd get 10 for quality. So, if you're in need to keep time, don't want to get distracted, don't have a vault full of cash, need features, want to play along... this product is for you!

You get what you pay for. Sure, it is small and the design is enticing. And while i cannot speak for the quality of the metrognome's performance, (mine does not work out of the package witha new battery) this unit has all sorts of tiny parts that can easily get lost. The clear buttons that you push to turn on the metronome and change the modes are losely sitting in the unit, so that if you are changing the battery, it would be impossible to find these pieces if they were accidentally dropped. This goes for the screws that keep the thing together too, you are going to need a very fine screwdriver to change the battery. Korg had these things backorded for forever and now that i have received it, it is crap.

      Great Deal

Just got this a few days ago and I must say it is a huge help. Some of the songs I play the actual tempo is different than what it would initially feel like and so far this is helping me stay on track. Although I would have to disagree with everyone by saying that this thing isn't too loud. In my opinion it isn't loud enough. It works great when I'm playing my drum kit with the practice pads on but with out it, even directly in my ear, I still have a hard time hearing it. But overall I would have to say that if you need something to help keep you on tempo for this price you just can't beat it.

      Metro Gnome at Home

      By SS-hdwDF

      from NC USA

I agree with some of the other reviewers that it IS a bit loud and the volume is not adjustable. So I attach it to my shirt collar as well. It has many different timings and is very functional other than no volume control. The price is a steal as you cant really buy a decent metronome today without paying over 30 bucks. Its very 007 and modern and makes you look cool, plus, you will actually play in time if you use it and loose all that sloppy picking and bad habits you may have. I also credit it to rapid improvement in my timing and dynamics. I was unaware just how much a metroGnome could do for my playing. Its like majic, James Bond watch out, I'm getting very trick with my metroGnome! SS

      Korg MM-1 Electronic Earring

      By Bumhucker

      from Jacksonville, FL

I credit this product for improving my guitar playing more than anything else. The Korg MM-1 is so small that you can have it with you to work on your timing nearly anywhere. It is a little bit loud to be directly in the ear iPod-style so I usually clip it to my ear lobe or shirt collar. It takes about 5 seconds to change the battery WITHOUT TOOLS via a fingernail notch. That's a rare occurrence though because the battery lasts forever. Great product!

      Love it for dog agility

I'm a dog agility judge, and I use my metrognome to accurately count five seconds on the table. I hang it around my neck with my whistle, and it's always available. With agility runs timed to hundredts of a second, it's very valuable to have an accurate table count.

      not just for musicians

This is absolutely perfect for rehearsing stand-up comedy. Maybe performing, too, I don't know yet. One thing about the instructions -- the battery compartment pivots outward. That's not clear. Also, this device is very easy to misplace. You've been warned.

      Perfect for Horseback Riders

      By TakeRunLie

      from New Providence, NJ

Surprisingly, I am not a musician. However I use this product while I ride my horse to set a tempo in my head, and thus for my horse. The results were instant. My posting remained in the same rhythm, and allowed my horse to lengthen his stride but not speed up, as my posting kept him level. This is a MUST for horse owners/riders. In any discipline.

sometimes you can not hear it when you are playing

      By Jazzcom2

It is ok, and it comes in handy but it is not loud enogh when you are playing. If you need a beat that is not on it, you are a little out of luck.

      all around great buy

      By mxpxdude189

      from Boynton Beach, FL

the only thing i would change is to have single tempo increments, like, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, and so on. but it still works, and clips comfortably on to your ear so you can go crazy and it stays on and in your ear.
