The pitchblack Chromatic Pedal Tuner offers you high precision, advanced functionality, and sleek style to make it KORG's most advanced guitar/bass stompbox-style tuner yet. The pitchblack tuner has a tough aluminum die-cast body that will endure hard use on the road or in the studio. The large LED meter and note name display with light-emitting surface is easy to read in any setting from daylight to stage light to no light. The extremely smooth eleven-segment LED meter allows accurate visual tuning from any angle. The Pitch Black has a red LED to indicate on/off status and a tuning range of E0 (20.60 Hz) to C8 (4,186 Hz) with adjustable calibration between 436--445Hz.
4 display modes.
The pitchblack's LED meter can be switched among 4 display modes including: Meter, Full Strobe, Half Strobe, and Mirror.
1. Meter mode
Similar to using a needle meter, tune your instrument so that the green LED in the center of the LED display lights and both tuning guide LED's are lit. The tuning LED's will be to the right of center if your instrument is sharp, and to the left of the center if your instrument is flat.
2. Full Strobe mode
Tune your instrument so that the LED meters stop streaming and both tuning guide LED's are lit. The LED meters will stream from left to right if your instrument is sharp and from right to left if your instrument is flat.
3. Half Strobe mode
Tune your instrument so that the LED meters stop streaming and only the green LED in the center is lit and both tuning guide LED's are lit. The LED meters will stream to the right of center if your instrument is sharp, and to the left of center if your instrument is flat. When the pitch is correct, only the center LED will be lit.
4. Mirror mode
Tune your instrument so that the two LEDs on the left and right sides of the center LED meet in the middle and both tuning guide LED's are lit. The pitch lit LEDs will spread farther apart the more your instrument is out of tune. The left tuning guide will light if your instrument is flat, and the right tuning guide will light if your instrument is sharp.
100% True Bypass output keeps your tone intact.
The pitchblack mutes the input signal for silent tuning, and when you're not tuning the input is passed directly to the output jack without being affected by any circuitry (True Bypass). So even if you connect the pitchblack between several of your favorite pedals, the signal will pass without going through the internal buffer amp, ensuring that the sounds you've created using your effects will not be colored in any way. The pitchblack is designed to coexist transparently with other effect pedals.

The pitchblack is designed to fit conveniently into your pedal board system. It provides a DC OUT jack that can supply power to other effect pedals when the optional AC adaptor is used. By connecting optional DC cables, you can supply up to 200 mA of power to multiple effect pedals, simplifying the power connections in your pedal board.

It's a tuner, it picks up my bass, electric, and acoustic with precision. Great illumination on the display.
We are a gigging, drinking, and overall abusive band on equipement, we have replaced all other tuners throughout time and purchased these units. Pretty much a prerequisit to jammin with us. If you have tuning issues with this unit - check your instrument first. If you have power issues, check your breaker first. I can't break 'em and I break everything. Never had a single one fail.
Only 2 things in life that make it worth living.... I know the guitars that tune good is one of 'em, the other is still up for debate. I can't stand to listen to a band that tunes once a set (or at least sound like it), this is a must have - value A+++

My Korg Pitchblack tuner worked fine for about 6 months, then the footswitch broke. I only play at home in my studio so it has not been abused. Matter of fact, it has never left my home. For this thing to fail so quickly is a testament to the cheap Chinese made garbage that is being imported into this country so manufacturers can maximize their profits. I'm going to contact the manufacturer to see if they will repair or replace it. We'll see how that goes. If you buy one of these tuners, you better get the extended warranty. You may very well need it.

A good pedal tuner to use on stage. I have used it with my acoustic/electric guitar and 5 string bass. It is pretty easy and accurate. It even gives several "shades", or small degrees, of flat or sharp. I wish it had clearer "INPUT" or "OUTPUT" markings but I will put a couple of labels on when I get time. I don't have a multi-pedal rig so this is about all I use in line to an amp and/or to a direct box to P.A. equipment.

I play in a cover band that plays everything from AC/DC to the Clash to LL CoolJ. My band plays 40 to 50 songs a show. Boss tu2 takes 5 seconds to pick up the 1st note, too slow. Korg Pitch Black is fast,accurate, easy to read, reliable and smaller, this is important on a pedal board. I have abused this pedal for five years, no problems. Saw the sale. Well, now I have one for my bass rig, too. Great tuner.

The Korg Pitchblack is a solid tuner. It locks on pitch very quickly, even on a 5-string bass. The display is super-easy to read on a dark stage or with bright lights shining in your face.
Potential buyers should note that unlike the Boss and Fender pedal tuners, the Korg pedal MUST mute the signal to tune. There is no "output" option, only a bypass.
It's a true bypass, so the signal is unaffected while not tuning, but once you engage the footswitch you're muted.

Was a little hesitant to pay more for a tuner than the cheap, small ones available. But to be able to tune onstage without having to unplug makes the pedal worth the money. I use it for bass and it still works great.
I liked it so much, that even after my last two were stolen I still had to go out and buy another one! But really, it's a good pedal.

Nice size, not too big, metal housing feels solid and the 9V IN and OUT is a great idea so you do not waste a power terminal plug since you can jump from the tuner to another stomp box.
