The Korg pitchjack is a guitar tuner that plugs directly into a guitar or bass instrument jack. The Korg Pitchjack Guitar/Bass Tuner is amazing. It is a super-accurate tuner that can be used with either a guitar or a bass. And it'll tune extended range basses too. I've used many different tuners for my basses (from floor pedals to clip-on headstock tuners) and they all have their cons. This tuner works. Period.
The only complaints I have about it are minor. First, when in use, it's hard to read the notes. Rather than have the notes illuminated while tuning, there are a series of lights next to the notes. It's hard for my old eyes to pick out which note is being displayed. Of course, knowing that for the bass the scale runs from High C to Low B helps you orient yourself while tuning.
And second, the tuner has to be plugged in to the input jack for it to work. This means you can't use it in a live situation. You can use it before you go on stage, but once out there and plugged in, you do not want to have to unplug, insert the tuner, and then re-plug in after tuning.
But as I said, these are minor complaints. For use at home or jamming with friends, this is a great tuner. It's well worth the price and it seems solid and well-built.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tuner.
Just do yourself a favor and order one.

Why couldnt Korg make this tuner recognize dropped D on a bass? I have owned many cheap tuners and not one of them has been as deaf as this one. I guess if you are using it for a guitar it might be acceptable... then why did Korg put a guitar/bass switch on the thing if it is useless for bass tuning? I know that I can fret the E to get a reference tuning, but that is not very accurate. Wish I hadnt fallen for the inovative design and listened to past reviews that clearly stated this problem. Waste of $$ for me.

This is one of the best tuners I've used. Very accurate and they are cheap enough to buy a few to keep in various places.It's probably the smalest one available and can fit almost anywhere.

Tuning is necessary and usually a small pain to get to a VST or normal tuning box. But I can keep this with me in a pocket to grab and quickly tune during a session. The lights are bright and easy to see. I also like having the ability to flat tune.

I have needed a tuner since my last one died. I bought this at an extremely low price (thanks, Musicians Friend) and really like the quality. I am not a principle guitar player (keyboards, and yes, I own two Korgs), but there's a spot in our show where I play my guitar. Our lead guitarist has a rather nice/expensive pedal tuner, but it was giving him some problems so he borrowed my Pitchjack. He loves it! Lots of bang for the buck, and Musicians Friend's customer service. Perfect!

Love this gadget. pinpoint accuracy and the little flashlight installed in it is handy for those dark spots in clubs and around boards. Worked great on my 1994 Guild accoustic too. love it. the hot deal was really great.

This is a neat idea...it's small, easy to carry (you can even put it on a key chain), yet very accurate...there's simply no reason to not be spot on in tune with one of these in your pocket or guitar case! I bought a few of these to give to friends, and they love them...this one's a winner!

Got this on a SDofD. The Pitchback has been around for a long time. On the batch I got the input is too long, not something to ram into a PRS jack. But they used to be a decent quick tuner. The easy twist battery compartment had to be pried open to install the battery. Duct taped it back in. It's usable for practicing or tuning up one string to get close to a 440. If it wasn't so cheap I would have returned it. Made in China doesn't mean it's junk, just means you never know what you're going to get. It's back in the box and will probably be given away to someone who really needs a cheap tuner.
