This stuff is fantastic! Over the years I have always had problems with string cleaners. It seemed that after I would clean them the next time I would go to play, my fingers didn't slide down the neck very easy and sometimes with MUCH difficulty. I dealt with this for years all the way up to the day I started using Dr. Stringfellow. I have never, I repeat never had this problem since I started using this product and have been using it now for at least 8 years. This stuff not only cleans the strings nicely but leaves some kind of coat on the strings that prevent them from getting tacky even when your fingers sweat and from getting rusty no matter what kind of temperature changes occur. And the stuff even smells good!

I just put on a set of DR strings, then thought I should "protect" the strings from corrosion while the strings are brand new. So I used it, and wiped off the excess. Well, it instantly killed my strings' bright "zing". They sound as dead as the ones I just replaced, and they have a squeaky feel (and sound) on my plucking fingers. I would not recommend it, at least for bassists. I am bummed because DR strings are not cheap (especially for a 6 string set). It may be great on guitar strings, but I wouldn't know.

Just doesn't sound right without....

Comments about Kyser Dr. Stringfellow String Cleaner and Lubricant:

I'm a tone perfectionist. I use this on my strings before and after I play. I need perfect intonation and my string cleaner and I'm ready to play. Also helps me get more life out of my strings.

Comments about Kyser Dr. Stringfellow String Cleaner and Lubricant:

I've used Dr Stringfellow for years and always loved it. But the last couple of bottles went from bad to worse. The last two if not three bottles I have purchased had a defective sprayer, but the very last bottle I bought with the new looking label was notching but some mere watered down milky substance of some kind. It used to have a nice smell and lubricant property. This one even after taking the top off and soaking a cloth still provided no lubricant and I could barely wipe down the stings without the getting burn marks on the cloth and my fingers hurting from the heat/friction. I had to take the top off because the sprayer after about two sprays stopped working. The one before this one shot out a straight thick stream rather than a mist. I'm done with this product :(

Works for some, not for me.

Comments about Kyser Dr. Stringfellow String Cleaner and Lubricant:

Luthier's Choice has changed their formula and it doesn't work nearly as well as it used to, so I've been trying everything else out there. I tried Dr. Stringfellow and was not really happy with it, either. The alcohol based cleaners seem to work better, but all of them have been discontinued, I suppose as a result of some EPA ruling, who knows. I'm making my own with 91% rubbing alcohol and a trimmer lubricant that seems to do the trick. Many other guitarists swear by Stringfellow and all the other more oily stuff out there, but it's just not for me. Doesn't seem to clean as well and has to be wiped down with a second cloth to keep my fingers from sliding off the strings.

I was expecting a liquid like finger ease or WD-40 but its more like water. I bought 2 bottles and I'll use them till their gone, maybe I'll change my mind so far I don't think so

Quick and easy to use. I put a little on a wipe cloth, and clean my strings after use. My strings last longer. They sound better longer. I would call it "tricks of the trade".

String cleaner yes - lube, not so much

Comments about Kyser Dr. Stringfellow String Cleaner and Lubricant:

It does seem to clean the strings quite effectively. It actually leaves them dry and squeaky clean. But that's kinda the opposite of lube.. I'd find a different product for that. And it smells like ammonia. I would guess it doesn't do your fret board any good.

This is a great product that I've used for years. Without it my strings corrode quickly. This stuff keeps my strings like new and extends string life for a very long time.

          This stuff works

          Best Uses

Comments about Kyser Dr. Stringfellow String Cleaner and Lubricant:

The top of the bottle I purchased is leaky. The product came in a plastic bag and the cleaner was coating the inside of the bag, and when I shake the product before applying as per the directions, the cleaner flies out of the bottle! Maybe mine was damaged during shipping.
This stuff works though. My hands sweat but daily application of this spray onto a polishing cloth and then rubbing the strings really keeps my strings sounding and feeling new for an extra couple of weeks.
I no longer feel like buying coated strings, I can buy pure nickels but not be afraid of rust!
