Upgrade your bass tone with these high-quality, environmentally friendly pickups.

The new Alumitone Bass Bars were designed by Jeff Lace as an upgrade to bass guitars that use conventional size soap-bar pickups.

This is the Bass Bar 4.5, designed for a 6-string bass.

All Bass Bar Alumitone pickups feature zero noise, ultra-wide frequency response and lightweight design. A reduction of up to two pounds of weight can be achieved by replacing conventional-style pickups with this new technology without any modification to the guitar itself.

These "current driven" pickups are designed for passive installation. However, due to their low resistance, they will not only work with existing preamp technology but will enhance the sonic range of it, as well.

Alumitone Bass Bar technology uses patented and patent pending technology only available thru Lace Music Products.

Formally introduced for Earth Day, the revolutionary Alumitone family of pickups use 95% less copper wire then standard pickup designs. By reducing the need for copper it saves valuable resources, reduces open-pit mining, and reduces the need for the energy consuming process of converting copper ore to fine wire.

This 4.5" model is for a 6-string bass. Use the Bass Bar 3.5" for a 4-string or the Bass Bar 4.0" for a 5-string bass.

Great sounding, but hard to mount.

Comments about Lace Alumitone Bass Bar 4.5 6-String:

These pups have good punch with a strong upper midrange. They are passive; and I strongly suggest using them with a pre to get the most out of the tone. They are very lightweight, they weigh several ounces less than my previous pups. If you have a heavy bass you'll definitely notice the weight difference with these pups. I have a pair installed in my Ibanez SR 6 string bass. When I blend the pair I can get a slap tone sorta like a Music Man/Ken Smith. Neck pup is real thick soloed; good for Motown, Latin, or Loud Metal with a pick. Bridge pup soloed has that burpy thing like a J Bass but with more low mids. Major downside is they're hard to mount. They don't have the full shape of most soapbar pups; these are shaped more like a giant staple. They don't come with screws either, and standard bass guitar screws seem a bit too short to get the pup heights adjusted properly. The installation instructions contain a generic wiring diagram, but no mounting instructions. But if you have a good bass tech or you're a DIY'er like me, these pups might be the meaty answer to your sonic question.
