The first pickup designed for drop "D" tunings and ultra-high gain rock music.

The Lace Drop and Gain Humbucker is the industry's first electric guitar pickup designed specifically for drop "D" tunings and ultra-high gain rock music. This totally re-designed pickup helps solve the common complaints of muddy, mushy tones and loss of single note articulation, while enhancing the guitar's own unique personality.

The Tech Talk
The drop D string tends to have excessive string vibration which can overdrive the signal to the pickup. Lace uses "slightly less magnetic than stock" vintage pickups. This helps cure the excessive loose string vibration from overdriving the signal. Coils are mismatched, so in the bridge pickup the one 15.1k coil of the 2 coils drives the pickup hard and the other 9.0k coil pulls out the necessary articulation.

A unique patented sensor design allows Lace to mismatch coils. This can only be slightly altered in a standard humbucker or the hum canceling effects will be lost.

Lace pickups are single coil, with very little hum, so when combined in a humbucker pickup, they can greatly increase its dynamic range without adding noise, thus making the Lace Drop and Gain pickup unique in design, tone and functionality.

This neck pickup will give you big, fat, over-wound humbucking sound. It is one killer neck pickup. Not used solely for Drop and Gain work. Also used in baritone guitars and with standard tunings. They work well for all types of musical styles.

Lace includes a three-inch mini data CD that includes all its latest wiring diagrams in color along with Lace's most current pickup and guitar catalogs. Also includes a warranty card and other useful information regarding Lace Music Products.

Drop n Gain Review

Comments about Lace Drop and Gain Humbucker Pickup:

At first I couldn't decide whether to buy the Zakk Wylde EMG's or the Duncan Blackouts. Both had great reviews and both guitarist are my idols. I visited both manufacturers websites and check out some reviews. I felt like the Duncans would just put me in the same group as pretty much every other metal player out thereuninspired, same old tone. Even though the EMGs had the solder-less setup, I already had a set in my SG (Kerry Kings 81/85) ...kind of been there done that.. I really wanted to look outside of the box I read a glowing review of the Lace Drop & Gains on Harmony Central and I made an impulse decision, and man, am I glad I did. Just as the reviewer said, these are the EMG killers. They have an amazing deep tone, that cleans up well, no mush here, and I felt like for the first time, I could actually hear the tone of my guitarnot just the pickups. My band tunes everything to C, and there is so much clarity in my tone now. Even in C, with heavy distortion, the low end is tight (major thumpage), the mids are even, and the high end is crystal clear. The coolest thing is they are passiveno dying batteries to deal with. I have recommended the Drop & Gains to all my guitar playing friends and recommend them to you as well.
Great tone with coil tapping
They seem to be very well built
Well worth the money

Comments about Lace Drop and Gain Humbucker Pickup:

Where have these pickups been all my life! These pickups are amazing! They are more organic sounding than "actives" and with more bite and a bottom end that never gets "muddy". No lame batteries either. Amazing. Totally quiet too. Liquid, silky sustain like you would get from a pedal. At concert volume they have all the low end crunch and highs I would want. Roll down the volume and it gets crystal clear with no hum. I think once the word gets out about these pickups more people will be switching from EMGs. I hear their Nitro Hemis are awesome as well and I intend to get a set for my other guitar.
Quick and easy to install. Split coil.
Well made. Winding encased in epoxy which makes them sweat, water and beer proof!
They do everything they claim they would.

EMG killer

Comments about Lace Drop and Gain Humbucker Pickup:

I play metal and hard rock and I bought these because I wanted something with a little more life than the EMG's I have been playing for 20 years...I had tried other things like the duncan blackouts, but there was still a compressed sterility (and they were kinda boomy on top of that!)...the Drop and Gains claimed to be engineered to today's drop tuning ...and that was the hook that got me interested. So I sprung for a pair and BOY OH BOY were they right on. I play a standard drop B tuning and these pickups were so attuned to all my picking and arpeggio sweeps and every littel detail i felt like there was some sort of gain boost on my rig...but it was just the pickup. It was surgical and tight. All while being organic and full. I cant describe it any other way. Really nice. Like I said EMG killer.
Solid black case like an EMG (and that is where the similarity ends). Hides passive guts inside. Easy to install. comes with an install CD.
Well Made solid pickup...they epoxy pot them so its sweat proof. Nice long cables
For what they claimed this pickup could do it was worth every penny. I'm actually getting me a second pair to switch out the EMG's in my other guitar.

Amazing...Skeptical at first, but VERY Pleased!

Comments about Lace Drop and Gain Humbucker Pickup:

I was looking for a passive design that gave me an active sound, but didn't know what to think of these pickups due to the limited reviews online. The price was a little off-putting, but I found a couple obscure vids of the pickups online and decided to give them a shot. I'm really glad I did! These pickups are downright AMAZING! Raunchy enough for classic rock to metal, but clean up easily and are super-quiet all the time. Articulation is wonderful, even in dropped tuning. Pinch harmonics jump out of the guitar and the tight low end makes for metal riffage heaven! Very EMG 81-ish for sure, but with a bit more character and I like the cleans I get from each position better than the EMGs, which I also own. More players should take a serious look at these before going 81/85 like the rest of the herd!

Comments about Lace Drop and Gain Humbucker Pickup:

add as much bass as you want these never flub out. I tune to C with a 6505 Peavey head. I installed these on a gibson sg standard. With these pick ups I do not need a noise gate anymore. Basically these are miracles of tone. Not as sterile as emg's with way more rock grit. If you tune down do yourself a favor and buy these now. They are loud. They ooze tone and they are super quiet. Palm muting is now ridiculously heavy. I thought I needed a new amp. I just needed new pick ups.
