First set of single coils pups that ever made me smile just from strumming an open E chord. Before putting them through their proper paces.
I've cycled through EMG DG20's, various Fender, and Fralin offerings. To my ears, these are the only pups that give you that strat tone that you heard in your head without any baggage or compromises. They are also one of the few pup sets that allows your tone knob(s) to provide nuiances outside of the usual 0 or 11 aspect of most single coil pickups.
The name chosen for these pups is dead on accurate.
Like virtually all Lace products, the Q/A in terms of material and manufacturing is top shelf.
The engineering behind the pickups is pretty darn innovative and more importantly effective in terms of noice reduction.
ACES...ROI is about 1000% percent.

I love a product that makes me say WOW. I purchased the Lace Holy Grail Noiseless Pickup Complete set in black for a strat I was customizing. The tone of these pickups is fantastic to say the least. They are advertised as 54-strat tone without the price tag or noise. I can?t honestly say I?ve heard a 54 strat but if they sounded this good I can?t figure out why Fender would have changed anything. All of my guitar-playing friends also said ?wow? when they heard them for the first time. I can compare these to a set of Fender Hot Noiseless I own and a set of David Gilmour EMG?s a friend of mine has. The clarity of tone is as good if not better than the Fender or EMG?s. As for noise, the Lace Holy Grail is the first truly noiseless single coil style pickup I have ever heard. With a 30 watt amp, output volume at max, and the guitar volume at max, there was absolutely no sound until you play a note. Like the Fender noiseless pickups, these have a vintage sound and if you?re into metal, you may not like them. If I have any other strat projects that come up, I will buy another set of these.

Being a surf guitar fanatic, I was searching for just the right pickups to build my own custom surf strat that would give me that exact vintage tone. I found it with the Holy Grails. But vintage surf tones are not all they are capable of. You won't find a better set of pups for playing blues either. These babies take to reverb like a fish takes to water and I'm told they distort quite nicely. You don't need a vintage strat to have vintage tone. Slap a set of these in your strat & you won't be sorry. Surf's up....

If you're looking for vintage tone look no further. You won't find a better set of pups for vintage surf tones OR for blues. There is no such thing as the "one set does it all" pickups but for vintage rock-pop-surf or blues you won't find a better set anywhere. And since they are Lace sensors, expect them to be noiseless on top of everything else. I can't tell the difference now from my strat tones or The Ventures tones of the 60's. Be sure to add some reverb. Now if I could only play like them....
