I play in a cover band and own a dozen guitars but my Strat with Chrome Domes is the only guitar I bring to a gig. The versatility never ceases to amaze me. Fleetwood Mac to Metallica -- same axe. Every position of the 5-way is a usable tone. The middle and neck have serious Strat tone and bite but with less noise, more output and a little wider, more-complex character. And the bridge pup's got humbucker output and sustain without the mud. It's like everything good about a H/B plus everything good about a S/C minus everything bad about a H/B and everything bad about a S/C. I've also played Lace Golds and Hot Golds -- they're great but I'm actually ordering a second set of Chrome Domes to put in my backup Strat.

I got a set of these for my MIM strat and sold them a month later. There is almost no low end growl to these pickups at all. They are loud and clear and full of mid range punch but did not have that distinctive strat sound. I put the Mexican pickups back in and found myself with a new appreciation for their sound.

I have owned these pickups for about 4 months now, and have nothing but good things to say about them! I play blues-rock, and some jazz, and they pull them all off with ease. They are, as the discription says, VERY hot pickups - especially for single coils. I've played humbuckers with a lower output than these. I droped them all into my Fender Mexican Stratocaster, and the difference was night and day! Both soundwise, and noise-wise. Lace Sensors are also known to be extremely quiet/noiseless single coils, and they live up to that expectation as well. I can roll back to the neck for an absolutely SEARING blues tone, or work the EQ knobs for a great jazz tone as well. (I play through a Hot Rod Deluxe,) And of course, with all that power, tons of great rock tones are on tap too. I gave it a 4.5 for features, because, (with the exception of coil-tapping, which isnt an issue on single-coils anyway,) you really can't pack extra "features" into a pickup. Secondly, I gave a 4 for value because they are a bit pricy. All in all, though, the price is worth it, and I would highly recomend this quality upgrade for you axe!
