The Lace Sensor Gold Pickup offers you world-class tone. Lace has built these world famous patented pickups since 1985. Used exclusively by Fender® until 1996, these pickups have the same specifications with the same great tone. Gold Lace Sensor pickups are designed to duplicate an early Fender® single coil pickup.
With crisp top end and bell-like tone, the Lace Sensor Gold utilizes the latest technology to provide excellent tone for today's players.
The Lace Sensor Gold has a unique radiant Field Barrier system that surrounds both the coil and magnets, reducing annoying 60-cycle hum. The patented Lace Micro Combs replace traditional bobbins, yielding a wider tonal range and better string balance than traditional pickups.
Unlike ordinary pickups, the Lace Sensor Gold generates 36 separate magnetic "sensing" fields which, in the areas where they contact the string, "read" the strings' vibration. (Regular pickups only generate anywhere from 4 to 12 fields).
The Lace Sensor Gold also has Radiant Field Barriers: metal slides that frame the inner core of the Sensors and perform two functions. The first is to shield the Sensor from the outside noise and 60-cycle hum. The second is to produce broader, yet more concentrated, umbrellas of sensing field than standard magnetic pickups.
Less Noise, More Harmonics
As compared to standard pickups, the Lace Sensor Gold reads a greater physical area of the string, while picking up less outside interference. This makes the signal-to-noise ratio nothing short of phenomenal for a single coil system. Also, a wider range of harmonic content is read by the Sensor, delivering a more complex tonal response.
Increased Sustain, Truer Pitch
Since it operates so efficiently, Lace Sensors can utilize much lower energy magnets than ordinary pickups, and this in turn brings about a whole new realm of properties. In regular pickups, the magnetic fields are so strong they physically dampen, or drag on, the strings' vibration, reducing sustain and actually changing the pitch. But in the Lace Sensor Gold, string dampening is virtually nonexistent. This means your sustain is increased dramatically while the string holds its true pitch for the duration of the note.

The best thing to happen to my strat. Bar none, the lace sensor is fantastic. I'm very particular about my sound, to keep it simple, this is it. Look nowhere else. It's a humbucker in reality, but has the tone of a single coil. Genius. There's a reason why Clapton uses it..

I have a 2002 American Stratocaster and I play through a 65 Deluxe Reverb reissue. I read many reviews about these pickups online, and while it may have been a quick decision to just buy a pickup based on word of mouth, I was not disappointed. These pickups give you a very tight, almost compressed sound and you don't loose the classic Stratocaster twang and glassy tones. Even though I am extremely picky about overdriven tone, these pickups easily satisfy my needs. The lows are tight, the mids are smooth, making it is easy to produce leads that cut through the mix. For a pickup that gives you a tight, colorful overdriven sound and a clear, well rounded clean tone look no further than Lace sensor golds.
They seem to be well built.
Worth every penny!

Got one today and installed it in a 1958 Harmony H-56 Roy Smeck (single p/u hollowbody). Plenty of range. Tele quack to smooth blues/jazz tones. No hum(none). It responds well, if you play harder, it gets louder, without any fuzzy, buzzy sound on the low end. Top end is clear and bell-like. I have no idea how it would work for distortion, I never use any, just clean w/reverb, but it makes the sound I want. Ordered it over the weekend and got it Tuesday (thumbs up to Musician's friend). If you are an old hilbilly like me and you want a true vintage sound w/o noise, get one(I was plying when vintage was new, so I know the sound is authentic). I don't think you will be sorry.

This pickup, everyone says is "bell-like"..I didn't know what this means so I got it to find outI'll just say it has a real sweet sound, even with distortion has a certain sweet-sounding characteristic that makes a "happy" kind of soundI eventually switched it out; I like it, but it didnt not add anything crazy to my sound

I had 3 of these put in my Clapton strat (Blackie, Black finish). The vintage noiseless pickups were too clanky sounding. These pickups have a better balance/tone to them. Their sustain is unbelievable and the tone is extraordinary. I also have three of these in my used Strat Plus (Yellow-it came with them already in the strat). I wanted the same balanced tone that I got out of my other strat, out of my Clapton strat. I am very happy with these pickups.

i've had a set of 3 of these pickups in 2 different guitars. i had them in a carvin strat & once my fretboard cracked i put them in a cheap lyon by washburn strat. these pickups are very clear with no hum even on a cheap guitar & a cheap amp. with my amp distortion on 10 i get a very nice classic rock sound with no muddy-ness.
