The thick soulful sound of Scott "Wino" Weinrich.
What can you say about Scott "Wino" Weinrich that hasn't already been said and meant and then printed in a thousand rock magazines across the globe? The man is a living legend, a rock n' roll "LIFER", one of the great singers and guitar players of his generation or any generation, for that matter. He's forgotten more about guitar playing than most so-called guitar players can seem to remember. His tone is thick, heavy, soulful and instantly recognizable. His voice is the voice of hard living and harder experience - battered, banished, but never, ever broken.
Wino's Signature set "Lifers" is based on the Lace Drop & Gains with modifications made for Wino's desired tone and look. These mods include a silky top end with a crunchy bottom end. His tone is designed to drive your amp better.

Comments about Lace Wino's "Lifers" Humbucker Signature Pickup Set:
These are my new favorites. Not many reviews out there that give a good description, so I'll do my best. Essentially they are warm yet clear, eliminating fully the harsh, bright sounds that had been plaguing my rig. Wino was my favorite guitar player for a long time, and I needed a solution to my overly bright amp. I swapped from a Duncan Black Winter neck and a Super Distortion bridge. Those are great pickups, but they didn't really suit this guitar (LP style solid mahogany body & neck, bubinga top).
I play a lot of styles, from funk to fusion to classic rock to metal. This set managed to hit every style I wanted and sound very good in any situation. The articulation helped significantly to clear up my sound without causing harshness. The bridge has a full, more bright sound that I use for chord work in any style, as well as some brighter leads. The middle position is fairly useful in any situation, and the neck is absolutely perfect for smooth, singing lead tones. The neck split is also a wonderful sound for funk or less agressive rock, and was pretty perfect in hitting a "sultans of swing" sound. If you want to pay tribute to the namesake, Doom sounds from early Sabbath through Crowbar and Down were all available with more distortion.
I will say that these might not be suited to a very dark guitar or amp, but for my situation they are absolutely perfect. If you want warmer pickups that can hit many styles, this is probably a good set to consider.
