I wanted a 15' cable to run between my guitar and pedalboard. I've been using Monster Rock cables - good cables - but came upon Lava when I was searching for a speaker cable. Very pleased with Lava'a super heavy-duty speaker cable, and with Monster not making a 15' cable, I pulled the trigger on the Lava Clear Connect II. When I received the cable, I A/B'd it with my 21' Monster. The Lava was noticably clearer. Even though the Monster is 6' longer, and the rest of my chain is Monster, the Clear Connect II made a difference for the better. It's also a big plus for me that Lava cable is made in the USA by a veteran. I'll always pay a few more dollars to support a small American business.

Lava Cables are all hype and offer nothing more than any other good quality cable. Planet Waves, Mogami, George L, even Monster... these other brands offer exactly the same quality, at a far more reasonable price. There's a LOOOT of marketing going into Lava Cables, and nothing substantial that makes them any better. And a double-blind test will prove it to your ears.

Comments about Lava Instrument Cable Straight to Right Angle:

Bought this with high hopes, and it does sound pretty good, but the cable started cutting out within 3 months. And MF sells this using wrong specs -- capacitance is 26, not 15 as advertised.

Great cable but right angle doesn't fit a Tele

            By Albert Kareb

            from Myrtle Beach, SC

Comments about Lava Instrument Cable Straight to Right Angle:

Unlike other reviewers of Lava Cable straight-to-right angle cable I was not seeking improvements in tone quality. Besides, differences in tone characteristics between one cable or another is a stretch for the naked ear to detect assuming the comparison is between cables of good quality. I was simply searching for a quality cable with a right angle plug to fit a traditional Tele output jack. I have some old 6" patch cables with G&H Industries right angle plugs. Unlike most right angle plugs out there these fit the Tele without the plug case bottoming out on the jack cup rim. The description of this cable touted G&H plugs and the photo depicted the same G&H plugs as on my old patch cables. Unfortunately when the cable arrived it was evident G&H had followed manufacturing trends and fattened up its plug case so the plug did not seat in the jack.
Well made, coils easily without memory, no tools required to open G&H plug ends
            Again, well made
A bit pricier than comparable cables

Comments about Lava Instrument Cable Straight to Right Angle:

We had a major dust-up over this Lava-cables locally and decided to do a double-blind test to see if there was anything to these ultra expensive cables. Needless to say, they didn't live up to their claims...at all. "Better sustain"? Really? From a cable? This is snake oil guys. Come on...

            yup, they're cables!

            By Bassesofalessergod

            from California

Comments about Lava Instrument Cable Straight to Right Angle:

I bought one just to see if there was a difference. I tested these against a 5 dollar cable I made, a 15 dollar Fender cable, and a 30 dollar Monster bass cable. There is no discernible difference. Build quality is good, but so is the build quality on the Fender and Monster bass cable. If you hope to improve your tone you might want to start with something that actually does something. If you want to say you own an expensive L^v^ cable, buy this one.

            Worth the price

            from California

Comments about Lava Instrument Cable Straight to Right Angle:

I was skeptical about the cost/difference on these cables but the feel of them changed my mind and the sound quality blew my mind. You don't realize how much sound you lose with low quality cables until you plug in with a cable designed with pro audio in mind. It is a noticable difference and definately worth the money. I bought one and the day it came in I bought 3 more. Just remember that your sound is affected by every cable it travels so if you are upgrading your cables don't forget the patch cables.

            Lava ELC Cables

Comments about Lava Instrument Cable Straight to Right Angle:

After a year I finally replaced my Core X2s with Lava ELC cables because the Core X2s are too stiff, will not lay flat and nearly had an expensive custom instrument pulled from it's stand because someone tripped on a cable sticking up. In a head to head comparison of the Lava and Core X2 with my Taylor signature dread with a premium no-cut aftermarket pickup system into my hi-fi system hi Z Mic in, the CX2 has more highs with better articulation. When I play a double forte line, it just jumps out of the speakers and I hear the guitar's top beginning to overload as I dig in; simply outstanding definition for fingerstyle. The Lava has slightly higher gain and a very good balance of warmth and presence with only slightly less articulation and definition. The slight lack of definition actually translates to slightly better clarity. While leading Worship with my 67 Telecaster through my Rivera Sedona set for clean tweed, I was very pleased with the near Rickenbacker chime (harmonics) using both pickups. In the end, I think the preference in sound for the 2 cables comes down to taste. The Core X2 is about half the price of the Lava... an outstanding value! But from a practical standpoint, the Lava's flexibility that allows it to lay flat simply beats the pants off of the Core X2 for live stage use.

            Excellent Sound, Value

Comments about Lava Instrument Cable Straight to Right Angle:

Replaced my too-stiff Core X2s that won't lay flat on stage with Lava and am delighted. These Lava cables are high end stuff, comparable to boutique cables costing 2x to 4x as much from van den Hul, Evidence, Sommer, Klotz. I perform with a Gibson L5 archtop, custom Zion solid body, and Taylor signature dread, using an old Boogie, Rivera Sedona, and Evans jazz amps without effects. Lava cables have excellent warmth, balance, clarity for all, no microphonics, and good flexbility. Not cheap but clearly a standout in the mid-price class. Oustanding Value!

Comments about Lava Instrument Cable Straight to Right Angle:

Lava Cables are comparable to high-end cables costing 2x to 4x as much. Not what I'd call inexpensive but excellent sound, flexible, and well constructed. Outstanding value.
