I just picked these up the other day. I wasn't all that impressed. The cables went together with no real big hassles. The screws don't like to get started very well, but not terrible. The strain 1/4" ends are a bit big. I had to push kinda hard to get them in. I was moving some things around and pulled it back out. The whole jack came apart rather than coming out. So I was left with a half a cable. Long story short, I would not purchase this kit again.
So I'm all set to buy a pile of Monster patch cables, because they were the quietest cables I could find. The sales clerk at Guitar Center tells me these are a better deal, and my experience with LiveWire's cables have always been okay, so I figured I would give it a shot. They really are fairly easy to put together, and they're fine if you're running only a couple of pedals, or you don't want to spend $25 per patch cable for some Monster Professionals. But be warned: they pick up radio stations! Admittedly, I run about 8 pedals in my chain, so noise and interference will be more of an issue. But I could have just bought the Monster cables instead and not had a problem.
I have built many guitar cords and effects pedals, so when I saw this custom kit, I thought it would be a great way to create customcables. Wrong!!!! First, there is nothing "easy" about this kit---no directions anywhere--box or website---and it takes a lot of effort to get the "docking connectors" to work. Second the kit came with less cord than the box claimed. And last, when I built the guitar cord, and finally got it to work, the straight 1/4 connectors were too "fat" to fit into a guitar jack. What is that all about??????
