OVERVIEW

One-size-fits-all undersaddle acoustic pickup system with volume control.

The Element Active System Undersaddle Acoustic Pickup from LR Baggs delivers performance previously unattainable from an undersaddle guitar pickup. The streamlined and efficient design of the acoustic guitar pickup removes every unnecessary internal component to improve the coupling between the transducer and the guitar. This substantially improves the sensitivity of the LR Baggs pickup's transducer for a robust, lively, and open sound with great dynamics and a delicate high end.

The Element Active System pairs the Element undersaddle transducer with a pre-contoured all-discrete class A endpin preamp and includes a small, removable soundhole-mounted volume control for added convenience and versatility. The entire acoustic microphone and guitar pickup system is designed to install easily and features plug-and-play performance. Also included with the Element Active System is LR Bagg's Battery Bagg for secure storage.

Comments about LR Baggs Element Active System Undersaddle Acoustic Pickup:

Great pick up, go for it.
I have owned a lot of fancy higher end guitars, Goodalls, Collings, Taylors, Martins, Gibsons and then some. Usually the higher end guitars come without pick ups and I have had to choose and install pickups in several. At the recommendation of the folks who normally do my set ups, I have had about 4 guitars equipped with KK pure western mini's. That's a nice pick up but I was never comfortable with the sound of it. Then I went to M1 active soundhole, that one is cool, but didn't quite do it for me. Went through a few more and then stumbled upon this one. I put it in a Taylor 12 string, by myself. Really easy, just have to drill the hole ( make sure you put tape on the hole before you drill so it doesn't splinter) Anyways, this pick up is affordable and sounds amazing. Excellent clarity throughout all the strings. Getting the sound balanced can be tricky, make sure you have your saddle sanded flat on the bottom (easy) and just measure the volume of all the strings, it should only take a couple tries. Mine came out perfect. I would definately buy another one and put it in myself. There are videos on the website and on You tube on how to install them. One of the coolest things is that it has a hidden roler volume knob that fits right in your soundhole which is convenient when you need to bump up your volume a little, or turn it down.
Great pick up, affordable, easy to install, Get it, You won't be disappointed. Just call me experience : )

Comments about LR Baggs Element Active System Undersaddle Acoustic Pickup:

I installed this pickup into an antique Yairi. Wow! I created a monster! I recently purchased two Gibon's from M/F. The J-45 I ordered, came with the L.R. Baggs Element Active pickup in it. I knew the Yairi needed one. If your guitar maintanance skilled aren't up to par, your may want a professional to install it. It's really very easy, but there are no second chances when drilling into your saddle, other than replace it. Do exactly as the instructions say, and all SHOULD go well. After 25 yrs. of no electronics, I have awakened a gaint! Very pleased...

Comments about LR Baggs Element Active System Undersaddle Acoustic Pickup:

This pickup works great. It's easy to install yourself if you're brave. It took me about an hour. I recommend several pieces of tape over the end pin hole before you drill the guitar, this helps prevent chipping the finish, I also recommend access to a good belt sander to get the bridge sanded down just right to compensate for the pickup underneath it.
I use this pickup with an LR Baggs ParaDI and I always get a great sound with them.

Comments about LR Baggs Element Active System Undersaddle Acoustic Pickup:

They say they are easy to install but I always have a pro install it. I most always run the guitar I'm playing thru my SansAmp Para driver DI box so tone is never an issue. I have this product installed in my '73 Guild F-50, my Epiphone EJ 300S, my bouzouki, and my custom built Martin, and it functions as expected in each one. Good value for the money.

Comments about LR Baggs Element Active System Undersaddle Acoustic Pickup:

The element produces a dull, flat tone, regardless. No amount of tweaking brings it to life. The endpin preamp is the source of the problem. The Element uses the exact same thin coax piezo transducer as the DTAR Wavelength. The DTAR sounds 10 times better. That said, the Wavelength, and DTAR products in general are poorly constructed and constantly break. The thin transducer used by LR Baggs and DTAR is flat making string balance much easier to achieve than other coax USTs. However, the Highland is far superior to the DTAR, and every other UST for that matter if you can get the string balance right. In conclusion, only buy the Element if you don't care about tone.
