Comments about LR Baggs iBeam Active Acoustic Guitar Pickup System:

This is a high-quality device that produces great sound. It's noiseless. I was initially concerned that installing it might change the acoustic, non-amplified sound of my guitar. But it had no noticeable effect. It's all positive.

Comments about LR Baggs iBeam Active Acoustic Guitar Pickup System:

I installed this system on a Voyage Air guitar that I am going to use when I travel by air to gigs. It was easy to install, as long as you don't mind drilling a hole in your guitar, and produces a clear clean tone that sounds like the guitar. If you are looking for something to make the guitar sound better this isn't it. But if you want it to reproduce the tone and sound of your guitar unplugged this will do the trick.

        Perfect Acoustic Tone

        By prof69strat

        from Paradise (no, really)

Comments about LR Baggs iBeam Active Acoustic Guitar Pickup System:

I have heard no after market pickup that more faithfully reproduces the tone of an acoustic guitar.
Easy install, comes with jig and extra adhesive strips in case you (or your friend), oh I don't know, drop your guitar on the concrete floor of a Masaai church in Kenya and have to send your guitar back to the states for repair, but want to put the pickup into a cheap yahama for the time being. Baggs even sent me and extra jig and adhesives, in Kenya, to install it. And it makes the Yamaha sound very good, even though it doesn't even really sound that good acoustically! An amazing pickup that I will use as long as they are still in production!
Easy to use, easy to install, virtually indestructible, lightweight and invisible. Outstanding quality and design.
I bought mine years ago. The current price is very agreeable and worth every penny if you really care about tone, even if you have a mediocre guitar to install it in!

        UNBELIEVABLE X 4

        By Joe-gRNcN

Comments about LR Baggs iBeam Active Acoustic Guitar Pickup System:

I have a Martin D28 1935 remake that this pickup is just fantastic in. It is plugged directly into the church's sound board and it is clean clear and true it sounds unplugged. I have gotten several comments on how great the guitar sounds and how clean the sound is. I have played everything form finger picking to rock and it is fantastic.

        Good for some

        By jdcox

        from Orlando, FL

Comments about LR Baggs iBeam Active Acoustic Guitar Pickup System:

I bought this pickup due to the reviews and and hearing it in person. I was poorly disappointed with how bright it made my guitar. They say you should buy the L.r. Baggs Para Di (that's how I heard it when I listened to it) if you don't have this or some kind of EQ it will not live up to the hype. Took mine out and replaced it with an old Fishman Ellipse Blend pickup (night and day). If you like the baggs product, get the dual source. A couple of friends have it and it sounds great, nice and warm.

        GOOD, BUT!

Comments about LR Baggs iBeam Active Acoustic Guitar Pickup System:

Although this system does exactly what it claims and does it very well, it may not be what your looking for. Personally, I prefer the LR Baggs Element over the I-Beam. The Element, in my opinion, nails the acoustic sound of my Martin D-18 and is not prone to feedback issues on stage, as the I-Beam is. I would advise anyone to hear a guitar in person with the I-Beam before commiting. I just removed an I-Beam system from my D-18 and installed the Element VTC and couldn't be happier. I would recommend either going with the Element or save up for the I-Mix. I would not recommend the I-Beam alone, unless you were just going to use it for recording only. And by the way, the LR Baggs Element undersaddle is the only undersaddle pickup that I like, it's just that good. It's no wonder that most new Gibson acoustics come standard with the LR Baggs Element. Best pickup on the market in my opinion.

        for that natural sound

        By Return2Normal

        from Indiana

Comments about LR Baggs iBeam Active Acoustic Guitar Pickup System:

After considerable research I had a Baggs iBeam active installed in my Martin D28 - I'd found the D28 recorded well with a mic, but tended to be boomy when mic'd for live sound reinforcement. An experienced Martin guitar tech installed it for me. I've tried it straight into a mixing board and through a Genz-Benz Shen Pro-LT. It sounds oh so very natural, and gets all the gain I need. It really shines for finger-style. It may not be a good choice in loud environments, as it would probably feedback, but in such situations tonal subtlety is usually less important. It was also important that it was both visually unobtrusive and physically non-invasive. That way it can be replaced - the D28 is likely to outlive the useful life of any pickup system. I am picky about sound quality and am quite happy...price was reasonable too.

        Better than under-saddle piezo

        By Aaron-uhtbK

        from Peoria, IL

Comments about LR Baggs iBeam Active Acoustic Guitar Pickup System:

I just put one of these in my 1980 Takamine F385 12-string during a whole-guitar upgrade (Grover tuners, Tusq saddle and pins, D'Addario DR strings). I can say that I didn't think my guitar could sound this good... full bass, clear crisp treble (without sounding tinny). I had a Fishman under-saddle pickup before that sounded very reasonable but this actually makes the guitar sound better plugged-in than without any amplification. I was able to install it myself in about an hour - very straightfoward and easy. The instructions mention that you can try different mounting positions to get the best sound but noted that directly under the saddle and a couple of millimeters toward the treble side was a good first location to try - this was the one (and only) location I used and can't imagine it sounding any better.

        Awesome

        By bbjb22

        from Climax, GA

Comments about LR Baggs iBeam Active Acoustic Guitar Pickup System:

Awesome pickup! I have several acoustic electric guitars and after installing this pickup, it is the best sounding guitar I own when plugged in. Very warm , natural sound, without to much treble. It blows any of the piezo pickups I have ever heard out of the water! It also sounds better than a guitar I have that came factory equipped with the Fishman Sonicore SS transducer system. You absolutely can't go wrong with this system, especially at such a great price. Also, installation is very simple, which if you have a little ambition and do yourself, can save you a good bit of money not having to have a luither put it in. I would deffinately recomend this pickup and will probably be buying another to replace a factory installed piezo system.

It Actually Sounds Like My Guitar!

        By Johnboy-fgeoq

        from Asheboro, NC

Comments about LR Baggs iBeam Active Acoustic Guitar Pickup System:

I bought the iBeam Active system for my D-28 Martin to use at a summer camp where I was the music coordinator. This pickup blem me away. I put it on the bridge plate directly under my bridge peice. It gave my guitar full resonance with emphasis on the bass side just like a D-28 should sound. I have never had a pickup that I could use for bluegrass, country, and acoustic rock, but this pickup just sounded so much like my guitar and mixed well in intimate and large venues. I am also getting ready to put one in my Martin D-41. Great pickup!
