Great, smooth, quick pedal good for any genre. I play in a Speed metal band and can easily go quicker with these pedals than with my old yamaha flying dragons.

Comments about Ludwig Atlas Pro Bass Drum Pedal:

I have played Ludwig Drums since 1968 and I am an Old School Rock and Hard Rock expert. I still have my huge vintage Ludwig kit, but my inventory of old Ludwig Speed Kind pedals finally wore out. Being a dinosaur I don't like change that much, but I closed my eyes and bought these new-style Ludwig pedals. Well, I am elated to report that these new Ludwig pedals are extremely well designed, with easily managed and infinite adjustment capability. You can stop shopping and buy this pedal with confidence. I bought two for my 24" double-bass kit. It only took me about ten minutes to dial them in to my style and feel by switching to the shorter chain (included) and fiddling with beater angle and height, and spring tension. Very nice action with confident and easy single pedal double and ghost notes. Nice feel when playing rudiments with both feet. Precise. Great beater and attack. The pedals appear to be sturdily built to last. I will sum it up with this: these pedals are all you need no matter as a top professional legend or just learning. If you can't play spectacularly with these pedals, it's not the pedal, it's you. Bottom line: a so-called better or more expensive pedal is not going to make any difference in your performance or talent. Very nice that Ludwig is still making great gear! Buy these and don't look back.

Comments about Ludwig Atlas Pro Bass Drum Pedal:

I have this system in the double pedal. I am buying this one single pedal so I can use two bass drums. The Ludwig Axle that connects the twin pedal system is the best I have found as the universal joints have no slop in them like all others I have owned. The only complaint I have is on my double pedal system you cannot remove the spring system completely to switch it over to the left pedal to separate them. On the left pedal there is also no device to mount a beater either! So Ludwig forces you to buy another pedal. These pedals are not any better than my Flying Dragon Direct drive pedals. I think by today's standards all these pedals are quite nice or the same basically with variations for slightly different needs. I also like the Atlas pro cymbal stands and their Hihat stand too. I use Yamaha drums and I am replacing much of the hardware around the kit. I even bought another Ludwig Axel for my Flying dragons. Also, the key to snug the Ludwig pedals on your bass drum hoop is also in a nice area as opposed to being underneath and hard to reach with a special designed key. Minor detail but nice and smooth and quick. Their good pedals. Here is a shot of that Left pedal and you can see there is no place for a beater and look closely down in the bottom right-No bearing cased within the pedal's gray frame for the spring screw like the right pedal. This is the only down fall I can see with the Ludwig double pedal system for those like me who do have two bass drums if desired. Then I bought a separate axle for my flying dragons that I use on my practice kit.

Comments about Ludwig Atlas Pro Bass Drum Pedal:

This is a great pedal if not THE best I've had. It is very rugged, well-built, functional, comes with a drum tuning key, you can use either a strap or chain, and it is very easy to adjust which is a key piece for me. I would not hesitate in buying this pedal.

Comments about Ludwig Atlas Pro Bass Drum Pedal:

At 55 years of age, and playing since I was 7 or 8, I would say I have been at this game a while. I have owned or used just about every pedal ever manufactured by any and all makers. I have been quite happy with some of them, not happy with others, and had a wide range of opinions in between. My favorites have stuck with me, some for decades. But there was just something about each of them that kept me looking around, not completely content. Until now. This Atlas Pro is my new home, and my last. I won't go into all kinds of brand comparisons and tech details so every one can see how savvy I am. But I will tell you this much. This pedal is a gem. Infinite adjustments allow for every imaginable playing style, technique, genre of music, etc... You want to have the full use of your stomping style for an aggressive stage appearance, yet get the dynamics of love taps with full control? This will do that. You want to conserve your energy for a long gig, yet smash holes in your drum head? It will do that too. It even comes with a strap, and a shorter chain, with attachment hardware, to facilitate even more diversity in adjustment. This thing is tough, smooth and even looks great. Styled after the classic Speedking, (footboard). The beater is unique, it's thinner and harder than most felt type beaters. The weight and composition helps with head response and control of the notes you play. Unbelievably fast and smooth rudiments, triplets and other muscle memory licks are easier than with any other pedal I have used. I am pretty certain that this will be the last pedal I will purchase. I am not searching anymore.

Comments about Ludwig Atlas Pro Bass Drum Pedal:

Pedal comes with 'long' chain (installed), a 'short' chain and a strap. the long chain allows the cam to be rotated back a little for accelerated power. The short chain puts the cam in a more normal position for more of a 1:1 feel. The strap has extra holes to vary its length in the same way.

Comments about Ludwig Atlas Pro Bass Drum Pedal:

I've been playing with inexpensive, "beginner" pedals and this is a noticeable step up for me. I use this on my Gretsch Catalina Maple and Sonor kits. Much faster for double beats and works well with the slide technique for me. I strongly recommend this pedal for the beginner or intermediate drummer upgrading their kit. And I do like the beater that comes with this pedal; the hard felt works good for my use in a swing band.
