Ludwig diecast hoops

Comments about Ludwig Die Cast Batter Side Snare Drum Hoop Top:

I added these to my LM400 snare drum and got a fantastic sound. The hoops are solid and finished in a rich chrome. The drum not only looks much better -- it sounds better too.

Die Cast or DIE!

Comments about Ludwig Die Cast Batter Side Snare Drum Hoop Top:

Well today I received just what I have been waiting for! I have an old 14 X 6.5 Ludwig Supraphonic that came with a die cast resonant bottom and a triple flange on the batter. This is everything I was wanting and then some. I noticed it adds more bottom and mids to the rimshots for sure. It makes it sound more like a drum, the higher frequencies are equalized. Its a lot easier for rim clicks too. It seems more responsive to the snares as well. My only complaint is I should have done this along time ago :) Make your snare sing and say good bye to the triple flange thing!!

Really changes the sound

Comments about Ludwig Die Cast Batter Side Snare Drum Hoop Top:

I have a Vinnie Paul snare. I replaced the triple flange hoop with one of these and the sound has changed dramatically in my opinion. The triple flange had more of a mid-upperange sound with loud "garbage can" overtones, where the Die cast has a more "EQ'd" sound with more lower range and less mid range. I would imagine this sound would be great for recording. There is a much more pronounced shell sound with rim shots. Not necessarily louder though. It sounds much more like professional drums I have heard on records. I plan to buy an aluminum die cast rim in the future to try its supposed more "open" sound compared to zinc die cast, which I'm assuming this is.

Comments about Ludwig Die Cast Batter Side Snare Drum Hoop Top:

I have been a triple flange hoop guy for years. I decided to try out these die cast hoops on my seamless Yamaha 6.5" copper snare to max out its metallic bite. They are amazing. They are easy to tune and stay in tune. And they don't dry out the sound and choke it at all. In fact, I've found that it aids in sustain. I am a heavy rimshot backbeat player and these feel great under the stick. I'm going to be buying a few more sets for sure!

stoked about the rim

Comments about Ludwig Die Cast Batter Side Snare Drum Hoop Top:

Got the Ludwig die cast hoop for my '68 Ludwig Supraphonic to replace the orignal steel one that was on it. Had practice last night with the new rim and was amazed at the increase in volume and crack. All in all I am happy with the product and stoked about the price. Wish you guys had them for the rest of my drums too.
