This is an excellent snare strainer. 'Classic' look and functions very well. It should come as standard equipment on all Ludwig upper end snare drums. I recently bought a Supraphonic that came with the stock P-85 strainer. First thing I did was replace it with the P-86. Fits easily since Ludwig has designed backward compatibility for the hole alignment. Well worth the money to upgrade your Ludwig snare.

Comments about Ludwig P-86 Snare Throw-Off:

for those of you that have a quality ludwig snare with a p85 on it. replace it with the p86. My black beauty 5x14 sounds great. The only thing thats given me problems was the p85 throw off. After reading the good reviews and correct replacment for the p86. I spent the extra money and man I'm glad I did.

Comments about Ludwig P-86 Snare Throw-Off:

I used this strainer to replace the original P 83 (?) on my 1967 LM 400. As many other reviewers have stated this a great strainer with an improved design over past models. It functions simply and effectivly with an elegant design and look. My favorite part is that this was a direct replacement part for my 47 year old snare. No drilling necessary. I unscrewed the old one and put on the new one. Genius! In a time where everything is tossed out as soon as it doesn't work, it's nice to see a company like Ludwig bucking that trend as a manufacture. Thank you Ludwig. I HIGHLY recommnend this strainer.

Comments about Ludwig P-86 Snare Throw-Off:

In Aug 2012, I installed this throw-off to replace the finicky P85 my Supra LM402 had. It's now Dec 2013 and the top half of the P86 throw-off just fell apart leaving me scrabbling to make shift repair 20 min before band rehearsal. Fortunately it didn't happen during a gig or recording session!
As a result, I went with a retro plate from Mike McCraw and installing the Trick GS007.

Comments about Ludwig P-86 Snare Throw-Off:

Soooo much better than its weakling P-85 counterpart, you can't go wrong with this P-86 throw-off. It's a bit pricey but well worth it. It works (and looks) great!

Comments about Ludwig P-86 Snare Throw-Off:

I replaced the strainers on all eight of my Ludwig snare drums with the P86 and Puresound Super 30 wires. The strainer is very sturdy and fully disengages the snare when off. Only takes a few minutes to retrofit a Ludwig snare. Should last a lifetime and is highly adjustable. A real classic look to the design.

Comments about Ludwig P-86 Snare Throw-Off:

The Ludwig P-86 Snare Throw-Off is a perfect replacement for the poorly engineered P-85. I installed the P-86 on my Supraphonic and it made all the difference in the world. It's well made and has a stylish look. You cannot go wrong with this upgrade.
