I bought this pedal because the next cheapest expression pedal was twice as much as it, and not really any higher quality. It has lasted me about a year so far, and I have put it through HELL. Not only has it spent most of its time in a flooded basement, but it's been packed haphazardly on the way to every gig, and when I play it I slam the thing all over the place. It has broken twice, and I've read other reviews here mentioning both problems, so they seem to be standard. One is the arm attached to the potentiometer, which was a super easy fix. Put it back in place, glued it, reinforced it with string. It's now twice as strong and solid as any other dedicated expression pedal out there. The other one was the cable. No problem. It took a year to get dicey (not even break), and then it was another super-simple fix. Just replace the cable with a stereo 1/4" jack. It's only three wires to solder and one hole to drill, and now I can use any length cable, and replace them if they break no problem. The rest of pedal is rock-solid, and has not broken in any critical places like I've seen many of the Roland EV-5's do.Bottom line: $30 and an hour's work got me a better pedal than most of the ones on the market.

A connector with the strength of a paper clip would have been a 100 times stronger. It might be good for the light footed home studio situation, but not in the heat of a performance.Korg and Yamaha pedals are worth the extra money.

This thing didn't work from the start, so i pulled off the bottom plate and found that -- as others have mentioned -- the plastic connector was broken. This thing pretty much blows.

Comments about M-Audio EX-P Expression Pedal:

Let me start off by saying that I am using the M-Audio EX-P for my guitar pedal; Boss SYB-5. I found it ironic that this is for a keyboard but it fails to work on my Casio while succeeds with working for my SYB-5 ( Synth pedal). Nonetheless, I got this pedal specifically for my pedals, not my keyboard. The EX-P has held up really well so far, dropped about 2 times. It is made out of plastic and has a rubber grip for the foot-switch. It comes with a knob to adjust the range of the delay, sound or whatever you need it for, which is pretty nice to have. It works great with all my Boss pedals and I have not yet tried it on any other brand. Overall I am very satisfied with this pedal, for the price you can't go wrong with it.

Comments about M-Audio EX-P Expression Pedal:

Picked this up for my Nord Electro 2, looking for a pedal for wah/swell control; after about 1 month, the pot has already crapped out on me, can't get a smooth sweep at all. Next time, I'll spring for the more rugged pedal.

Comments about M-Audio EX-P Expression Pedal:

I will never order from Musicians Friend again. The nasty lady who answered the phone when I inquired about a return plainly told me that I would be paying for the original shipping charge AND the return shipping charge. That would equal half the price of the pedal and not worth returning. It's Sweetwater from hear on out.

Does what it claims for a lot cheaper than many. Not the most solid piece of gear I own, but tough enough for what I'll put it through.

Comments about M-Audio EX-P Expression Pedal:

I normally use to go through a bunch of pedals yearly. I've been using this pedal on the road and with my Church worship band controlling either a Nord Electro, Kurzwel PCX or Triton for the last 2 yrs. I've had none of the issues some others seem to have. For the price it's a much better value than the Roland (which incidentally are overpriced and suffer from flimsy build). I use this thing weekly, and I'm happy. I've owned them all. I personally like plastic pedals better than metal because they are easier to pack and deal with weight wise. But you have to use common sense, and not slam it around. BTW- Most ANY regular generic volume pedal can be used as Control/Volume pedal with most newer keyboards if you use a Stereo TRS cable. (stereo plug on one end and to in 2 1/4" plugs) Plug the stereo end into your keyboard and the the 1/4s into the in and out of the pedal. You'll have to experiment with which in&out to use- because the polarity is sometimes different on all keyboards. For other options check out Rolls volume pedals- they are a good value, compact and built like a tank. Bottom line on the M- Audio try it.

Comments about M-Audio EX-P Expression Pedal:

This pedal would be good for someone that just wants to look at it. Or someone that needs a ramp to jump their toy cars off of. Very poor design for pro use. When you rest your foot on the pedal it makes all kinds of pop and cracking noises. This thing is junk, seriously.

Comments about M-Audio EX-P Expression Pedal:

This pedal is a good light weight pedal necessary on virtual synths. The problem is the input cable is designed poorly and can take only minimal abuse. I replaced it with a (TRS) stereo guitar cable. Works great and no more problems.

        Cheap, but a bit flaky

        By Supercade Dave

        from Washington, DC

Comments about M-Audio EX-P Expression Pedal:

Seems solidly built and you can't beat the price. Two things, though: 1) the cord is hardwired; hope it doesn't give out on me. 2) The pedal doesn't stay in position; it eventually makes it back to "full on", which is kind of annoying.

Comments about M-Audio EX-P Expression Pedal:

I have been using this for about a year and a half, no problems like I have read on these reviews have occurred, in fact it seems very smooth and worth every penny, I play barefoot so I can feel the pedal, have a size 10 foot and weigh 200lb, I have played both standing and sitting. It did not work with my Roland Fantom X7, but seems to work with my controllers fine (which I run into the X7)

My pedal broke after 2 or 3 weeks. Strangely enough, my axiom 61 started failing after 2 or 3 weeks. Too bad they don?t build stuff like they did in the beginning. Vie been using the Quattro for 5+ years. Anyway, this pedal is junk unless you have size 6 feet and weigh 60 lbs.

Comments about M-Audio EX-P Expression Pedal:

I have used this pedal in home use just jamming with friends, I was boring it to checking it out and it almost came apart on me. I was a pro keyboard player since the later 1960's to the later 1990's, had to stop because of three severe auto accidents. I've been using sustain pedals from Yamaha and Roland instead of expression pedals. The sustain pedals work fine unless you nee the volume to stay up and you take your foot off the pedal. My controllers are all Edirol so far. I do want an expression pedal that is not so over priced though.

This peddle broke less then a min after I plugged it in. The little plastic arm that moves the controller pot arm snapped the second I put it in full off. The plastic arm was too sort. This really made me upset because I usually like M-Audio gear.

I am using this pedal with the M-Audio black box, it's working very good with it, I checked almost everywhere in internet and Musician's Friend has the best deal. Pedal is good but it's kind a too plastic, Like a toy, I haven't broke anything on it but it's a bit weak and light. But I can't complain because it's working good.

Comments about M-Audio EX-P Expression Pedal:

Got this as a gift from a non-musical person who had seen the name 'M-Audio' on a piece of gear of mine and had heard me contemplating getting an expression pedal for my controller. My 2 main controllers are both Edirol products. I plugged the EX-P into the socket and BAM! Works like a charm! Really rugged little thing (plastic, but I don't tap dance on my gear, so, it'll last, I'm sure), and a great price compared to some other expression pedals available. I had wondered aehile back if this would work with my Edirol/Roland gear. You need not wonder, b/c I'm telling ya it does!
