Purchased for use with the Casio CTK 2300. This is a MUST HAVE item for keyboards that do not have touch sensitive keys (like the CTK 2300). It appears to be very well made, and is the same height and size as the pedal on a real piano. I originally ordered the pedal to make the keyboard's piano voice sound and feel more like a real piano but upon installing it, I discovered a really neat effect when using it for the organ and strings voices - these voices automatically sustain themselves and only stop when the pedal is depressed. (The CTK 2300 has four 'functions' settings for sustain pedals - this effect is achieved using the default setting of 'SUS'. I am guessing most electric keyboards have a similiar set of options) It can take some getting used to, but this effect alone makes the pedal a must-have item. I could write a whole page on just the things you can do when playing the organ and strings voices. The pedal itself is heavy enough that it stays in place and the ONLY drawback to this pedal is that the plug is a straight-on plug. A 90 degree angle would be preferred since my keyboard is up against a wall in my rather small home studio, but that is a trivial issue given the overall quality of this item.

Owned 3 of these pedals. I play 3-7 gigs a week at 4 hours each. 1/4 of my performance is keyboards. these pedals haven't lasted more than a year. They drop the sustain enexpectedly a little at first and then fail completely. They might be good for a home occasional player but they don't hold up on da road!

This pedal is agreat bang for the buck product
ther'es really no need to spend a lot for a sustain pedal, it also has a polarity switch on the bottom.

Comments about M-Audio SP-2 Sustain Pedal:

I was impressed with the weight of the pedal but it did not stay put with intensive use, so I found a way to keep it in place, which one can't do with common flat-on-the-floor light footswitches:
When I rest my foot on the solid front part and press with my heel it functions perfectly well and does not move.
Even though my keyboard has internal polarity setting for footswitches, the little polarity switch at the bottom came in very handy to configure between open-when-pressed and closed-when-pressed.
The moving part of the pedal has excellent resistance and it will not operate with a slight push (which most footswitches do).
I do not recommend pulling it by the cable since it is significantly heavy and the wire may break.

Comments about M-Audio SP-2 Sustain Pedal:

I love this pedal. I have purchased three of them. Two of them have had a screw come loose inside - it was an easy fix - plus it allowed my to apply a little white lithium grease to some of the metal contacts. I am tough on pedals - these are great.

I am also a road musician and I bought a Korg keyboard. The salesman suggested this pedal. Well the first one stopped sustaining within two month but Sam ash replaced it. Now the replacement won't sustain. I find the wiring at the male plug in end to be weak especially after you wrap it up after your gigs. Looking for something else.
