After much reading about the sound qualities of different kinds of strings, I used bronze or PB's custom lights for a long time. I first tried these strings on my backup/practice guitar - a folk sized Simon and Patrick. The sound was sweet and the strings soft to the touch and easy to play. My main player is a Masterbilt EF500RCCE and it has a rather dark tone. I was afraid to go any lighter than the custom lights (11-52) that I've been using because I was afraid of excessive volume loss. After putting these on, the tone is considerably brighter and better and volume is equal to, if not better, than the custom lights. I play a mixture of finger style and strumming and these strings sound excellent for both. After years of experimenting w/strings my search is over. Don't be put off by the lightness of the gauge - these are easily equal to regular lights in volume IMO. Save your fingers and boost your tone at the same time. Best strings I have EVER used. Excellent!

    Too bright for my ear.
I may be a stick-in-the-mud. I tried these strings in an attempt to remove a little of the brightness from my Martin HD28. I wanted a little more pop sound than Blue Grass. I got 60's 12 string sound instead. I just put them on today. I will remove them tomorrow. Some will love them. I am still searching for MY String! The Silk and Phosphor are not it! It may be the lighter guage.

Comments about Martin FX130 Silk and Phosphor Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I just wanted to try these and see for myself how they might work on my guitar. I have a Martin 00015m that has an excellent setup for fingerstyle. My string of choice is Martin Lifespan but I thought Id give these a try for more dexterity. They sounded pretty good and were very easy on the fingers but due to my very close setup I had string buzz on a couple of strings. I would recommend them to someone who needed a pretty good sounding string that is very easy to play. But be aware you too may get a little buzz if you setup is pretty close.

I put them right on an Ibanez, EW, chamber size guitar. Always had trouble getting a good tone from this instrument while maintaining playability. Never heard this box sound so good and it's a gas to play.
I haven't plugged it in yet but acoustically I'm very happy
By all means try at least one set!

Comments about Martin FX130 Silk and Phosphor Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I hesitated getting these initially, but after my first "test" set, I was convinced enough to get 12 more. Since they were ridiculously well priced on sale, I couldn't resist! Playing with them (I play chord melody/fingerstyle) enables more ease of use and these are the most comfortable strings I've ever used. I sold a beautiful Taylor guitar because I couldnt get the right feel playing it and believe this may have solved the problem. As it turns out I bought a short scale Taylor and the combination was remarkable.
As far as brightness, these may not have as bright a sound as the SP's but to me it's worth the minimal tradeoff for the playability. They still sound great.
