After much reading about the sound qualities of different kinds of strings, I used bronze or PB's custom lights for a long time. I first tried these strings on my backup/practice guitar - a folk sized Simon and Patrick. The sound was sweet and the strings soft to the touch and easy to play. My main player is a Masterbilt EF500RCCE and it has a rather dark tone. I was afraid to go any lighter than the custom lights (11-52) that I've been using because I was afraid of excessive volume loss. After putting these on, the tone is considerably brighter and better and volume is equal to, if not better, than the custom lights. I play a mixture of finger style and strumming and these strings sound excellent for both. After years of experimenting w/strings my search is over. Don't be put off by the lightness of the gauge - these are easily equal to regular lights in volume IMO. Save your fingers and boost your tone at the same time. Best strings I have EVER used. Excellent!

Too bright for my ear.
I may be a stick-in-the-mud. I tried these strings in an attempt to remove a little of the brightness from my Martin HD28. I wanted a little more pop sound than Blue Grass. I got 60's 12 string sound instead. I just put them on today. I will remove them tomorrow. Some will love them. I am still searching for MY String! The Silk and Phosphor are not it! It may be the lighter guage.

I have poor finger strength so I usually use extra light gauge strings. These Flexible Core SP strings are easy to play, comfortable, resonant and bright. Highly recommend them for all players

Comments about Martin FX130 Silk and Phosphor Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These strings have crisp tone and are very comfortable to play. They ring nicely for recording acoustic rhythm tracks, but they're also articulate for flat picking solos.
They are better than many others.

Comments about Martin FX130 Silk and Phosphor Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Like may other people,I've exclusively played electric guitar with a low action and 10 ga. strings and also like many people, I've always wanted to play acoustic, but shied away because of the heavy gauge strings.

Happily, these FX130 Silk and Phosphor strings are the perfect answer!

I recently purchased an acoustic (a Martin x1-DE) and though I love the sound of the 12's it came with and I really tried to "play through the pain", I was becoming less inclined to pick up this guitar because it was simply too uncomfortable to enjoy.

The FX130's are far easier to handle and I now can't put the guitar down! The 11 - 47 ga. setup is close to my electric setup (I lowered the action as well) and although these strings get somewhat "twangy" when struck hard (but sound beautiful when played softly), I'm playing more and learning more and that's what matters most.

I purchased two sets of these strings along with one set of Martin FX775's (also Flex Core) and a set of Martin 7050 SP Lifespan 92/8 (both 11-52's)

My plan is to work through these string sets and eventually move to "proper" 11's in the future and possibly on to the origanal 12's after that.

But for now, these strings make it possible for me to learn to properly play an acoustic without feeling as if I need to ice my fingers or wrist afterward (I'm 57 yrs. old), while still allowing me to build the muscle strength necessary to one day be able to play the thicker strings that will really make the guitar sing.

So many people like me have been spoiled by low-action electrics but want to play an acoustic guitar without thinking of it as something to endure rather than enjoy.
I'm glad that Martin makes strings like the FX130's so that we CAN do just that -- enjoy playing and look forward to playing even more.
