I have used many types of strings from elixers to Dean Markley's and everything in between but you cannot find a better sounding string than the Martin Marquis. I use them on an 82 Yamaha FG180 and when I first play with strangers in a jam session (playing Martin Guitars) they ask me "damn what kind/brand of guitar is that"? I tell them "it's the strings" although the guitar is not a high end instrument it is a good guitar. The marquis really set it off. Most of the time the strings hold up but here lately i have had some durability and tuning problems (not staying tuned). Do they sell lower end or reproduction marquis that i am not aware of. Anyway these are good strings man.

Meh

They're just ok. High E string broke while tuning without much tension. Overall sound is fine - nothing special.

Great tone, both low and high end. I own a Martin and they really are designed to bring out the rich sound of a Martin. Not to mention that you can't beat the price!

I have tried a variety of strings on my Ovation.
These are easiest to play(on fingers) Keeps beautiful tone , nice and loud. My ovation has never sounded better.

I was very pleased with the Martin Strings with one exception. There were some small rust spots on them. They sound great. I have used Martin strings for several years and plan to contiue. This small issue needs some attention before it becomes common place.

These are always the best for me. I get extra lights for ease of playing, but there is no sacrifice of sound or tone. They just sing on my Martin SWD.

Makes a cheap guitar with a high action play easier and sound alot better. I use these all the time on students guitars. It amazes me how they make these discount store cheapo's sound!

I had never used Martin acoustic strings before but now I think I'm hooked. Not as bright as Elixir, Ernie Ball, Dean Markley or D'Adario. I like the sound and they feel "broken in," which is nice.

After finding out that Kevin "Barrelhouse" Burke uses Marquis strings on all of his guitars, including his Ovation, I decided to put them on my Ovation 1994 Collector's Edition. It definitely improved the tone over any of the strings I've used before, including Elixirs. He beats the heck out his strings and they last, so I'd imagine mine will do fine in that regard. I'm ordering another set for my wife's guitar.
