Comments about Martin M200 12-String Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

12 string guitars are the "king" of guitars, and most players can NOT master them. One of the major problems in the vice grip left hand that is required to fight against the push back from the 12. I have been playing these for decades, and my all time favorite is the Guild F-212. I have one made in 1966 and have used it extensively. The secret is the strings. The light tension of these does the job nicely. They don't last a really long time. Once the silver plating begins to wear off, the tone and volume begin to head South. If you are having trouble with the action of your 12, try these-use "extra light gauge".

Comments about Martin M200 12-String Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Since I own three 12-string guitars and one (Takamine from ebay) never sounded all that great, even with the previous string change. So, I thought this was the one to get rid of. I bought the Silk and Steel to replace the worn out strings on this old Takamine, since it sounded terrible as is.

When the new set was installed and tuned up, the sound was soooo amazing! Well, compared to how it used to always sound. My other guitar is a Martin 12-string and it sounds beautiful. Well...with the Tak sounding so good, I just had to compare it with the Martin, but when I did, I couldn't really tell the difference in sound quality, other than the Martin sounded louder in volume.

Now, I'm not sure about selling the Tak.

Now, if you're reading this, it might sound like BS, so take it with a grain of salt, I'd say. All I know is that Tak never sounded all that great since I bought it used and now, the tone is no different than the Life-Span (15 bux) that are on the Martin.

That said, you'd have to consider the cost of the strings: 8, or 15 bux, where the slight difference (to me) is just the volume.

The only thing I wish is that it came as extra light.

I love these strings. They stay in tune better than the last set I had and sound fantastic. They took an ordinary 12-string and made it my new favorite guitar.

Comments about Martin M200 12-String Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

First off, I'm not a fan of PhosBronze strings. Never have been, never will be. I've always preferred nickel, steel or Monel wound. My hands perspire when playing/performing and PhosBronzes just doesn't react well or last any time with my skin oils/perspiration. These Martins fit the ticket at a great price and can't be beat. They last longer than I'd expect for such a low cost string. I've used these on my 12 string for a long time. The 12 isn't my main instrument in our performances, but is used a couple of times during each set. Buy a set and you won't be disappointed.

Comments about Martin M200 12-String Silk and Steel Custom Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Silk and steel strings were the gold standard during the folk era of the 60s.

Their lush timbre, somewhere between steel and nylon strings, blends beautifully with vocals. They're especially nice on 12-strings. If you play a 12-string guitar and and sing. you owe it to yourself to try these.

The lower tension of the silk-wound strings makes them easier on your fingers, and the rounder, mellower bass has been music to a lot of people's ears for a lot of years.

There's a reason they never stopped making them - they do what they do better than any other string.

These extra light strings are good for performing. I'm currently using them to record. They have a great feel and nice sound! I'm very happy with them.
