I bought a set of these for my Taylor814-CE, which I normally use D'Addario EXP lights on, and have been glad I did. The strings are silky and do not have much in the way of noise when playing. Plus the price being half that of the EXP's you do not loose in the way of tone. When I first put the strings on I thought they where too bright, and almost changed them out the same day. But after playing them for a day or so they just got better and better. So far they've been on my 814-CE for about a month and they still sound pretty good, and just to let you know I play that guitar along with several others at least an hour a day. I'll be putting these strings on my Taylor 710, along with my Laguna LG6-RW and Takamine Koa as soon as the strings on those guitars need replacing.I have been a fan of both Martin Strings and D'Addario strings for years switching back and forth between the two, and will probably keep doing that for awhile, but all things considered it looks like I might have found a new standard set string for my acoustics. Both the light and the medium sets.

I had high expectations on buying these strings when I saw Clapton's face on the box...Boy was I wrong! I was expecting that they would sound beautiful and last long. I put these strings on my guitar and yeah, the sound was alright but I have heard better definitely. The thing that really got to me about these strings however was the fact that they lasted me only a week! Most of the time a set can last me atleast a month at the least...not these. DONT BUY THESE STRINGS!

Comments about Martin MEC12 Clapton's Choice Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've tried many strings on my acoustic. To tell you the truth, just knowing they're "Eric Claptons" make me happy. It's some physiological thing for me. I am partial to martin strings, and must say these play smooth. Last just as long or longer than other non coated strings. They're worth a try, if you don't like them get something different. That's how these became my choice strings, I went through martins, ghs, d'addarios, elixrs and etc, and these caught my ear and fingers. Hope this helps

Finally the One!

Comments about Martin MEC12 Clapton's Choice Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I had been looking for just the right strings for my Martin D15-Rosewood. Knew from Martin Company that the guitar was made for 12's (heavier will screw up the top). Tried different ones -- looking for brightness with even balance from bass to treble, and each string having its own "voice." Wanted to be able to afford changing them regularly, too. I tried these and have never looked back -- they are all I use on that particular guitar now. These are not the same as Martin's other phosphor bronze strings -- they really are different. They also do not go dull very quickly -- last well for uncoated.

Best I've Tried

Comments about Martin MEC12 Clapton's Choice Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I have these strings on two guitars, mediums on a Martin D-16, and lights on a Guild GAD-30R. Both were improved by the change, especially the Guild. Made the tone fatter and warmer, richer. Also they are reasonably priced, which is a big deal for most of us. They seem easier on my fingers than some others, too, and seem to hold tuning better.

Uncle Boog

Comments about Martin MEC12 Clapton's Choice Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

The write up said the tonal quality of these strings was warm. I bought the hype and put these on my Martin D1. As it turns out, it wasn't hype at all. These sound great. Most other strings I've tried sound way too up-with-people cheerful. These are clear, warm, and fat. Lots of body and depth. Strings are what we use to translate the sound of our wooden instruments so arguably they are only a means to an end. Many strings I've tried ring like a church bell and for me, something gets lost in that translation. I think its called wood. Going to switch up and try the mediums next time.

Comments about Martin MEC12 Clapton's Choice Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I recently put these on my Martin D-28. What a difference! These strings are user friendly, easy to play and they sound wonderful on the D-28. I thought it was a sales gimmick at first, but truly they made a world of difference for my playing style.

Comments about Martin MEC12 Clapton's Choice Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

these strings are okay, they have way too much treble for my tatse, chords on this thing sound horrible. the treble stays for about 2 months, after that they get duller, which is a good thing for me i guess.okay strings, wouldn't buy them again though.

Comments about Martin MEC12 Clapton's Choice Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Will be trying D'Addarios along with Ernie Balls, they can't be worse than the MECs! Don't know why Clapton would use these strings, although I suppose he changes strings everyday. If you can do that, then these strings do have a nice tone coming right out of the package. But that is gone almost overnight.
I only rated these strings this high because they were bright and lively right out of the package. After one week of playing they were dull and needed to be changed.
Not worth the price. I've played Martins forever on my D-35, but have given up on them. They are overpriced, and overrated.
Too expensive for an average string. I've had it with the Martin strings.

Comments about Martin MEC12 Clapton's Choice Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

These are only my third set of strings on my guitar (the first two were Martin Marquis Extra-Light), but I think that I will continue to use them. They sound amazing months after I put them on. They're half the price of Elixirs, and they're worth every cent.

Tried these on a whim (good enough for Clapton,...), very happy that I did. Sound great on dreadnought-style acoustics, haven't experienced the rapid loss of tone that some other reviews have commented on. Highly reccommended.

I wanted to like them. Once on my Taylor 816ce, they stretched perfectly in tune and were a bit tinnier than expected, but still a clear ringing tone. After two hours of on and off playing, they were lifeless. Your best bet would be to have your guitar freshly strung with these, get in your studio takes ASAP, and remember what they once sounded like in the recording. I'm sticking with my D'Addario EXP16's.

At least they were cheap with the Stupid Deal.
