I have found nothing any better than the Martin SP strings. I use both the medium and the light gauge depending on the instrument

Comments about Martin MSP4250 SP Bluegrass Medium Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I have used the Martin SP strings for years and thought I would give these a try. Not disappointed at all. The tone of my Martin D-1 has always been good but these strings make a great sound even better.

Great strings for that old time sound

Give them a shot. Just be aware that a change in string size may require adjustments to your guitar's action
Great balance. Increased volume on my Martin d-16A without stripping tone.
      These seem to last.

      Woke Up My Martin!

      By

      from St. Louis

Comments about Martin MSP4250 SP Bluegrass Medium Acoustic Guitar Strings:

My Martin HD28 finally arrived in all its glory and splendor. Within a day I noticed some fret buzz, so I proceeded to raise the bridge a tad and remove the factory strings (replacing them with D'Addario phospher bronze lights). Big mistake!! Now mind you, the D'Addarios sound great on my Yamaha DW-4S and my Epiphone EJ200, but my Martin lost a ton of volume and STILL had a bit of fret buzz. Needless to say I was a bit nervous as I tried in vain to get the loud, punchy sound out of my Martin. I did some research on Martin's web site and found out dreadnaught-sized acoustic guitars were shipped with medium gauge strings. On a whim, I bought a set of medium gauge phosper bronze Martin Bluegrass SP's, and WHAM! Holy Mother Of Pearl, my HD28 sung out with more clarity and volume than I've ever heard out of any acoustic guitar! If you're looking for some really great sound at a great price, check these strings out and you'll be pickin' and grinnin' for years to come.
