OVERVIEW

Superior performance, longer life

Martin SP Lifespan acoustic guitar strings are treated with Cleartone proprietary technology to bring you the longest possible string life without sacrificing tone or natural feel.

Martin SP Lifespan strings are designed to repel the oils and dirt that can deaden strings. All six strings are treated to preserve the natural Martin SP sound and feel that players prefer.

Phosphor Bronze strings are bright, but slightly warmer sound than 80/20 bronze when first put on the guitar. They offer consistent tone over time. Phosphor bronze has a copper/tin alloy, making them sound brighter than regular bronze strings.

MSP7050 Custom light strings are recommended for folk and lead rock styles.

Martin SP Lifespan acoustic guitar strings are used by Martin on the majority of its production guitars. Martin SP Lifespan with Cleartone proprietary technology provides a rich full tone with the added benefit of longer life. The Martin SP Lifespan acoustic guitar strings start with ultra-pure steel SP core wire, which delivers a perfect combination of tensile strength and response. Bronze electroplating is added to protect and enhance the core wire, which is complemented by the wraps that bring the full, rich tone players demand. Finally, Martin' custom wrapping technique ensures tight tolerances to gauge and tension. Martin SP sets are sent to Everly Music for treatment with Cleartone proprietary technology. This treatment provides the thinnest protection in the industry and does not flake or peel. The treatment protects both the wrap and core wire by repelling dirt and grime that can deaden a string. Wrap windings remain open and uncovered to permit natural vibration patterns. The Cleartone proprietary technology preserves and protects the natural rich full tone of the Martin SP strings.

I bought a Martin OMCPA4 Rosewood that came with Lifespan 12s. The tone was incredible. I fingerpick so I wanted to try the 11s. For me they did not sound nearly as good as the 12s. I'm going back to the 12s for their deep bassy and smooth trebly tone. They are somewhat more challenging to play but I feel I will get used to them. I would recommend them to a friend. Everyone's ear is different. They only way you know if you like them or not is to try them.

Tried switching to these from elixir phosphor bronze nano custom lights, as these were less expensive. The bright tone on the wound strings fades quickly leaving them sounding dead compared to the elixrs. Not sure in the long run these are a better value as you need to change them more often. I will stick with the exlixirs.

Comments about Martin MSP7050 SP Lifespan Phosphor BronzeCustom Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I like the sound of the MSP custom strings. I especially like the long life SP sets. I don't get to play on a daily or sometimes even weekly basis. Therefore, I don't change strings very often, and the SP strings last longer than 2 or 3 sets of the regular strings.

Comments about Martin MSP7050 SP Lifespan Phosphor BronzeCustom Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

This is the first time I tried the Lifespan SP strings. The tone quality is excellent from the high to low pitch strings. I can't rate the longevity yet as I have only had them on my guitar for a couple of weeks, but as of now I am very pleased. The guitar used is a Martin DCPA4. Sounds great.

installed these strings and they sounded bright. two days later while tuning up to pitch the small G string popped and went into my hand. Aside from some light picking, these were the SHORTEST lived strings I have used to date... Dissapointing

Comments about Martin MSP7050 SP Lifespan Phosphor BronzeCustom Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Really good sounding strings! You should give them a try at least. Strings have a long lasting bright sound, and that tone lasts longer than Elixer that I also use. I like the smoothness of the Elixers more but the tone of the Martins keeps me coming back to them. The discoloration of your fingertips happens quicker and seems heavier than with the Elixer strings. Custom Light is my preference for finger picking. I think you'll find these good to use in rotation with your current favorite brand.

Strings seem good but shipping took forever -- not sure why it was routed where it went and why it took so long. Be patient if you order these.

As a life-long musician, I've played nearly every string known to man. I just ran across these ...gave them a try, and On my Guild and my Martin, these strings are hands down my faves!! Yeah...a few bucks more, but they hold their tone very well. I also love the custom 11's. 10's a too light, 12's are a bit too hard after 4 sets. hahahah... I guess that's a bit like Goldilocks, but I love these strings!!! They're justtttt right :-)
