I compared these Mogami Gold's to the similarly priced Monster cables. The Monsters are long lasting and sound very good. But the Mogami has the edge in transparancy. It does not color the sound, it stays pure and natural with no emphasis on any particular frequency. The Monsters seem to "warm up" your sound...but it's as though they are missing some of the high end. That's what tone controls are for. So in a direct comparison, the Mogami cables are the winner. As I said, they do not epoxy the plugs, so if the wire becomes shorted out, you can cut it and resolder using the same ends. The Monsters you would have to send back to the company. I know how to solder a cable, so I like the option of making repairs myself. Not that I think this cable will need it, not for a long, long time. The Mogami Gold is the only cable I use on gigs now, or for recording. The other stuff I use for teaching or practicing.
Does what a cable should do, and better than most.
So far, fantastic. These Neutrik ends sound better to me than their newer line of plugs. Solid, and repairable if anything goes wrong. Unlike the Monster cables which are epoxy sealed and cannot be resoldered. The Mogomi wire is probably the best sounding instrument cable on the market at this price point. In fact, I see no need for the spendier thicker stuff...this cable sounds pure and uncolored.
I rate the value high because you get what you pay for. I have bought the same wire from eBay sellers who build their own. They do a great job, but use the newer Neutrik plugs and somehow the sound is attenuated, not as loud or robust. These are clear as a bell.

I am a scientist that works with a local lab and decided to do a test, based on all this bs hype around name brand cables. First, I tested Monster, Mogami, Planet Waves, CBI, Conquest, Dimarzio. Below are the actual results:1. All the cables passed the same amount of signal within .003 of each other .05 is an audable difference).2. They all sounded different with a PRS Singlecut through my Mesa Dual Rectifier. 3. The only real improvement in connectivity was the Planet Waves, because of their spring lock 1/4" plugs.4. All materials reacted differently to stress, but in the end, Conquest and CBI took the most punishment without beginning to pop and fuzz. What does this show? Basically, it breaks down like this... Monster cable: thick/knots easy, mid eq boosted, old ends increase sound by .005Planet Waves: Great compression spring locks, regular cableConquest/CBI: Consistant signal pass, high stress handlingMogami: Designed like Conquest cables (cost 3x as much), pass the same signal as Conquest

Comments about Mogami Gold High-Definition Neutrik 1/4" Straight Instrument Cable:
Pros- Clean sound. No distortion, or buzz.
Neutrik Adaptor. Can unplug guitar mid-song without without fear of popping noises, but I only unplug my guitar when I am finished playing, so no benefit for me.
Cons- Very thin.
Gives guitar tinny sound
Chord is cheap feeling, despite being over $60
The adaptor (part that goes to input) feels cheap, as if it could break at any time
Looks extremely similar to "cheap" chords,
Conclusion- I would never purchase this patch chord again, nor will I recommend it to others. I have a Monster Cable Rock Chord that sounds 10 times better than this piece of junk, and it is easier on the wallet.
Nothing special about the chord. Gives my Jazz bass a tinny sound.
This is not a thick chord by any means. I try my best not to step on chords at all, but even more so with this one. It is very thin, and I'm afraid I would wreck it if I were to accidentaly step on it. The plug has the same adaptor as many "cheap" chords, yet it sounds no better, all at being 5 times the price.
Definitely not worth the price. I would give half for it.
Comments about Mogami Gold High-Definition Neutrik 1/4" Straight Instrument Cable:
Great product overall, I highly reccomend. I am an amateur musician with off and on 40 yrs of exp. Playing mostly in Gospel groups.
Absolutely the best sounding cable I've ever used.
So far great quality, but I can't speak for the ruggedness or longevity yet. Like the Neutrik ends very much.
A little expensive to me, but then I have 2 of them, so I guess they are worth the cost.

Buy this, you won't be dissapointed.
This cord is definitely worth the purchase, the sound from the guitar to the amp is crisp, clear, and just what I had in mind for a what I'm working with as far as live performance goes. Get it.
Lifetime warranty..
Comments about Mogami Gold High-Definition Neutrik 1/4" Straight Instrument Cable:
I'm a professional musician with both a recording studio and live venue equipment. Having used about all the brands in cables, I can confidently say Mogami Gold is the very best cable money can buy. If you want to hear as clearly and accurately as possible what your system/instruments sound like, go with these cables. I use these for recording to attach my keyboard to the system. NO extra noise, and the best sound out there. If you're doing live venues, get Monster, it's a little more flexible. But if you ever record, GO MOGAMI!
Comments about Mogami Gold High-Definition Neutrik 1/4" Straight Instrument Cable:
I own 2 Gold Mogami's and they are awesome sounding! Nice and clear, no pops or anything....BUT there is one very annoying issue I have with these cables, They twist up very easy which can make using them live very unpleasant! It even annoys me using them at home because of this. I don't think I've owned a cable that twists up so easily!
Comments about Mogami Gold High-Definition Neutrik 1/4" Straight Instrument Cable:
Been using it for about 5 months now, and man has it made a huge difference in my sound. I was using budget, $10 cables for years, thinking that it was part of what I did. Then I splurged on one of these and have been happy ever since. The quality of playing the two back-to-back is noticably clearer and that is what I was hoping for. Money well spent to make my archtop sound like an archtop.
Comments about Mogami Gold High-Definition Neutrik 1/4" Straight Instrument Cable:
The sonic improvement over cheap cables is immediately apparent with these; they are very quiet and sturdy; but alas - I can't use them on stage because mogami seems to have found the gene for coiling up, kinking up, etc. really really really frustrating.
Comments about Mogami Gold High-Definition Neutrik 1/4" Straight Instrument Cable:
Had these, bought 2 sets for recording. Although they did seem to run more quiet than cheaper cables, in the end they proved to be cheap them self. After using them for only 6 months, one of the cables would not take a signal from my guitar. Not something a $50 dollar cable with a life-time guarantee should do. I will try monster next.
