For some of those who can build their own cables, this may be a bit overpriced. But if you're just looking to make great music and capture every bit of the clarity you hear live on tape, I suggest using Mogami cables.
After using the Mogami Gold series cables, I thought I'd give these a try - since they're about $20 dollars cheaper. Even without the thin lining of gold on the connectors, I noticed no difference in sound whatsoever.
I've used really cheap cables, livewire cables, monster cables, and mogami cables. And let me tell you... Mogami kills them all. Unknowingly, I did a livewire vs. mogami shoot-out. I had loaned my cable to a friend to use, but still needed to finish up some tracking. I had everything the same, except for the cable. During mixdown, I noticed that the clarity I was used to was lacking from the vocal track. After going through all the steps, I realized that I had been using the livewire advantage cable from years ago. Needless to say, that did it for me.
I'm an amateur recording engineer, working on musician's indie cds as well as my own. If you're serious about having the best sound, spend the extra $20 and buy these cables. After all, in this business, your sound is your reputation. The cable is a bit long, but I'd rather have too much cable than not enough. Wouldn't you?

I bought a Mogami Silver series 25 foot mic cable. Right out of the box I noticed that even though the cable works, the signal was exceptionally weak and sounded thin. Swapping the cable with any other cable of similar length, I get a normal signal. It might simply be a dud, but it's not worth the hassle to see whether I *might* get a better one on returning it.

I always try to salvage the cables when they go bad by soldering the wires that short out, but I found no problem with the connections. On the positive side, the ends are a lot easier to work with than my other mic cables.

Comments about Mogami Silver Series Microphone Cable:

Bought for home studio. Mogami is known for high quality cable, but I thought this particular one was a little thin and doesn't wrap as cleanly as the thicker stuff. If you want something rugged and sturdy this is not it. However, it's great for light use in the studio and the high-quality connectors are easily repairable.

Great quality, low price.

By Dallas Petersen

Comments about Mogami Silver Series Microphone Cable:

Great cables. They make good sound, plenty long enough for whatever you need, and they are nice and sturdy.
Some people don't like that these only come in 25 ft. length. I don't really mind. I have a few mics and do some small scale recording here and there. It's nice for me to have something that's long enough when I need it to be, and I don't mind a little extra laying around if I don't need it.
This cable is silent. I bought it based on a lot of the other reviews I saw. They all seem to be acurate. I get no extra noise from these. I have 3 of them and they are all holding up just fine so far.
Spend a little extra. These are definately worth it. You won't have to worry about quality or durability. The cable is pretty thin but it is holding up just fine for me. The connections fit nice and tight and don't wiggle or come loose at all.

Great product

Comments about Mogami Silver Series Microphone Cable:

Have a few of the SM58 Sure mics and were having trouble with our old cord not fitting correctly. We were getting popping noise and the mics were cutting in and out. I was ready to send the mics back. But instead I wanted to try different cable first and I am glad I did. I cables fit very snug into the mic itself and the rubber ring on the cord tightened everything up perfectly. Now the mics work perfectly with not noise what so every no matter how hard the singers giggle the mic around.
I really like the little "o" ring a the bottom of the connector
Product seems to be of really good quality
Wasn't the most expensive but not the cheapest either

Very tough cables, dependable

By DJKJ

from Katy, TX

Comments about Mogami Silver Series Microphone Cable:

I have two of these that I use for my active speakers and they're top notch quality, clean sound, good connections. I thought they looked flimsy at first glance (the cord is pretty thin) but they have been walked on and abused and still work great. They've outlived my Shure brand mic cable. And they only cost a few bucks more than bargain cables. GO FOR IT.

Comments about Mogami Silver Series Microphone Cable:

I have used this with the MXL V63m Studio Condenser Mic for miking my grand piano and it is a quality+ item. The only downside is, it only comes in one size.

Comments about Mogami Silver Series Microphone Cable:

Great cables. Noiseless, easy to store, cheap, and most importantly: lifetime guarantee. What else could you possibly want? I've used many types of different cables and if your just getting into the business, you'll learn that cheap cables break quickly. Mogami Silvers are exceptional cables in the audio world.

Mogami XLR Cable

By N. C.

from TN

Comments about Mogami Silver Series Microphone Cable:

We recently purchased two 25' cables and two 50' cables for mains and monitors. They are great! No static at all. The only con is they seem a little thin, but when they mess up, we'll just replace them. Can't hardly beat it for the price!
