Good cable for tighter playing.

Features:

Gold-plated cable ends. Comes in straight and right-angled ends.

Quality:

Had mine for years and hasn't broken down on me yet.

Value:

Monster 'Rock' cables are of great value if you play music that requires tighter playing. I play high gain Metal and I needed the bass to be tighter. Well, the Monster Rock cable has it. You'll lose some girth in the sound compared to other cables, but you'll be able to play as fast and as tight as you'd like to.

The harmonics are vivid and that works fantastically for high gain and sustain situations. The cable also has a bite that'll make your tone all the more menacing.

Overall:

Every player has his or her own signature sound. We all just need to find the cable that suits us best. I needed a tighter response in the bass than I was getting from another cable I was using. The Monster Rock cable is suitable for high gain music and is fairly quiet. Now I can confidently share my music with the world.

Fresh Cables after 25 years.

Features:

I replaced my 5150s speaker cables with these Monster brand cables (Speaker cable). The Fender cables that came with the amp also seemed decent. I could not really hear a difference with the speaker cables. But I switched my instrumnt cables. I guess the cables I was using were 25 years old and from a late 70s time zone much like myself. So now all the noise I hear is natural amp hum which is extremly minimal and nice and quiet, instead of a large hum that makes a person wonder if his rig is grounded enough or trying to isolate ground loop hums. One cable I did have was a new cable and it made more noise that anything! It should have been illegal. I threw all of these cables in the garbage.  Man, I have a 20,000 dollar guitar rig and I was using out dated old lesser constructed cables fron technologies from almost 3 decades ago. Ok...all better now. Im not so sure the life time guarantee is really needed. Sounds nice but unless you pinch it on some gear from the truck or make contact with the lawn mower I think thats pretty much a propaganda thing. One review mentioned that Monster Cable was contacted for customer service and he claimed he was dissatisified. I cannot say one way or the other as I have not needed to inquire for Monster Cable's statement of "Life time" replacement. I still need to buy some more of these instrument cables in shorter length sizes for different applications though. I noticed that their was another named brand of high reputation and a 21ft cable cost nearly $200.00. I didn't want to spend that kind of money and judging by the way the Monster cables sound I was pleased. At GC I would have paid much more for these Monster cables too actually compared to Musician's Friend. I have heard that both are one in the same but the price of ordering 4 instrument cables was much less compared to walking in locally.

Overall:

There was one other thing that is related here worth mentioning. I have a friend who is an old sound engineer from the 70s and he knows so much about gear and wiring equipment up and he told me once when he was helping me wire some rack gear that NASA did a large study strictly on wire and the differences with Gold and silver and copper connections etc... by the end of NASAs study NASA determined that wire was wire and that it didn't matter about gold or silver and that the only thing that did matter was the amount of current running through the wire and the amount of resistance the wire possesed based on it's relative size and diameter vs the current flow through it's circuit. This is NASA for their space shuttles. So when Monster Cable mentions the time wrap thing for mids, and considering the very minimal current used in an instrument application line, it makes me wonder how that works or what that actually is that Monster Cable advertises. I honestly don't know but I wonder what that is.

No more hum

| Review By: Danny Hemphill | 1 month, 1 week ago

Features:

I recently purchased a Gibson Les Paul Studio Silverburst from MF and when I plugged it in to my Fender Mustang II amp with my old cable I could hear a constant hum. It was definately worse than the hum from my Epi SG, which can probably be explained by the fact that the LP has superior pickups. It was obvious as soon as I opened the Monster cable package that it was constucted of much heavier materials. I plugged it in, turned on the switch and nothing, no hum or static noise at all. THe moral is, buy a cheap cable and you have a cheap cable - buy a quality cable and you have a quality cable. The Monster cable is definately a quality cable.

Don't get your hopes up ...

Features:

Theoretically noise free, low capacitance.

Quality:

Appear to be sturdy, the wires are potted in at the connector, but that's not the weak spot. It's outside the screw-on barrel.

Value:

Grossly overpriced for what you get and the life of the cable.

Overall:

Monster cables are supposed to be guaranteed for life. But, try and have them make good on it. I have three guitar cables I bought in 2005 and all three have lost continuity just outside the screw-on barrel (likely from bending over time). I called Monster to see what it takes to replace them ... after three weeks, they sent me an 800 number and told me to be prepared and have my receipts ready when I call. I bought these in 2005 at a store that is now out of business. Who in the world saves receipts for guitar cables, aspecially after 7 years. Buy Mogami, Whirlwind or DiMarzio. They're likely to last much longer ... never had a problem with any of them.
